Can't wait for Friday night, looking forward to seeing the Q Stick / Cloke power forward duo in action, with Young bombing it Inside 50.....what to see Witts and Hudson in the ruck. Also Dwyer and Martin, I think one of these two could be elevated to the senior list, Friday night may decide who, along with Hudson.
The draft picks of course, Kennedy and Broomhead in particular.....is Grundy a chance of playing or us he still recovering from injury?

Guess its a matter of degree TD.

There's been so much hype .. I don't see hom as a cert to make a big impact.

He's definitely got some attributes, mainly his obvious size and build and also attitude, he's brave for sure and has pretty good skills for such a big guy.

The things that concern me are that he looks to have slow twitch muscle fibres and has a habit of looking buggered five minutes into the first quarter. He barely leaves the ground at centre bounces, if his feet are six inches off the ground that'd be about it. Whether that's just a fitness and conditioning issue, or related to his coordination and muscle fibres I'm not sure.

Plus he is still very much learning the game, bit like Izzy was, but of course that is just a time thing, he's still only ever played probably 40-50 games of Aussie railed on his life being an ex Rugby player.

Anyhow, that's my attempt at explaining my ambivalence re the big guy. God I hope he proves to be the player everyone hopes him to be, with the midfield we've got and will continue to have.

Sounds like you're describing Aaron Sandilands.

Whilst it will be nice to see a few new faces in black and white ill be more focused on the game plan changes Buckley has been implementing over the summer.

Most specifically ill be watching our ball movement not only around the ground but inside 50 which was terrible last year and ill be watching our work on the "outside" where teams waltzed past us at will. These two areas need to have improved for us to be successful in 2013.

Can we all agree not to be like Richmond and rip into our team if we lose a meaningless NAB cup game?

I think you will be surprised how many pubs will show it.
Just don't forget that it (our first game) starts at 4.50pm.
^ Best part about being in WA, 3 (excluding daylight saving in Vic) hrs behind Melb and the footy comes on late in the afternoon.

Cheers for the 4.50pm start, I will look around for a venue near Ascot.

Needs MOAR Q-Stick.

Nah, pretty comfortable with what we'll get from the big Q.

Young & Russell are a little less certain. Both come to the club with a history of high performance counter balanced with some question marks over their abilities. Which persona will they bring to the Pies?

You're forgetting their AA full forward joe danniher

Nah, he trained at the club last season so he's tarred with the same issues.

Just Brought a Ticket and had Best Avaliable and I just got a General Admin ticket for Level 1 or 3.

Why is That?

Collingwood FC collingwoodfc

Bucks has said that we're likely to see new recruits Hudson, Lynch, Young and Russell in the#nabcup on Friday, but Brodie Grundy won't play

So What is wrong with Grundy? Lack of Info is Pathetic

He has back issues, doesn't he?

From what i've heard he isn't fully fit. No point risking him in the nab cup and aggravating it...

As for Dwyer or Martin being elevated - 80% sure it will be Martin

Grundy walked laps most of the session with Daisy. Wad then accompanied by Gault and Goldsack, just doing a basic skills session (had no running).

Saw Dids walk off with a trainer, not sure what about, didnt appear to be limping.

Ball finished a little early, and didnt partake in any match simulations.

Keefe did a most of the training but dont think he partook in any match simulations either.

There was also another rookie (dont recognize him) who was only doing running and skill drills. He had a shoulder injury.

My main concern is with Ball, when doing a drill where you had 4 diff coloured cones and you had to quickly step towards the colour that butters says. Compared to other players, Ball was probably only at 50 percent.

A rookie with a shoulder injury sounds like hartley.

Shame Grundy is injured would of loved to see him in the nab cup

If you can't find one around Ascot, I'm sure The Belmot Tavern will show it. They are a dedicated sports bar. 174 Wright St Belmont( ph:92772077). or you could go to the "The Carbon Sports Bar" at the casino will be should be showing it also.
That are both only 5 minutes up the road from Ascot.

Hey guys, I hope Kennedy plays, he is a little beauty. you guys should be excited about his ability.

Pies name experienced NAB Cup squad

Collingwood supporters will get their first look at several of the club’s big name recruits when the Magpies take on Essendon and the Western Bulldogs in Friday night’s NAB Cup opener.

All three of the club’s pre-draft recruits, Quinten Lynch, Clinton Young and Jordan Russell, have been named in the 30-man squad that will play two matches comprising two 20-minute halves.

Much-travelled ruckman Ben Hudson’s name is also on the team sheet alongside Kyle Martin, Sam Dwyer and Jack Frost, the club’s three VFL imports in December’s Rookie Draft.

Collingwood’s squad is brimming with senior talent, with 13 premiership players included alongside established figures such as Andrew Krakouer, Marty Clarke and Ben Sinclair.

The good news story is the return of Brent Macaffer, who has been named to play his first senior match since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against the Bulldogs in last year’s NAB Cup.
