I can't believe we're almost here... Just one month away from the NAB Cup.

So we have drawn Richmond and North Melbourne, who seem to be in constant debate over 'best young list'. Whilst they continue to pump up their tyres I will be expecting Woodward to deflate them with just a few possessions.

Gunston and Frank in the forward line is another combination I will be looking out for. Who can stand up in defense? Will it be Litherland or the recycled Boumann?

Looking forward to the match!

Who wins? What players should play or be rested? Will North go out in straight sets to Hawthorn and Richmond?

Is it 6 or 8 players on the bench?

Team

Backs: Cheney Gilham Puopolo
Half Backs: Stratton Schoey Suckling
Centers: Smith Shiels Savage
Half Forwards: Wanganeen Boumann Rioli
Forwards: Gunston Hale Osborne
Rucks: Bailey Burgoyne Hallahan

Interchange: Breust Ellis Young Bruce Lowden Whitecross Schneider Pattison

Rested: Roughead Lewis Mitchell Gibson Bateman Sewell Birchall Hodge Guerra Franklin Murphy.

By the way what will the crowd attendance be? I reckon with Richmond on the up and with us getting big crowds there could be 30,000+ :thumbsu:

I believe that Clarko will give Young Ellis Bruce and Osborne every chance to impress early in the Nab Cup. You never know who of those players could play Round 1?

The supporter bases of all three MCG clubs generally dislike going to Etihad (especially as a home game) in the home and away season. Hard to tell, but I'd expect a minimum of 30,000.

I'd particularly like to see Frank and Grimley, Gunston, Hallahan, Lowden, Bouman, Shneider, Hill, Wanganeen - and Schoey.

Is that too much?

Oops - missed the 'North' part of North Melbourne....though technically they were an MCG club once apon a time and do struggle to get supporters to attend home games at etihad ;)

Gold. :p

Can't wait for these games. As it is every year, just hope we get through injury free and the kids show something. Really looking forward to seeing Gunston get a run, real unknown for many supporters, eve after all the fanfare. Also really looking forward to seeing Litherland, Lowden and Grimely. And Punky, from the training thread he looks to have bulled up a bit.

Lat year they cynically marketed these games as ' two for the price of one' then whacked a 429 entry fee. its too much for pre season

Hopefully if hawks play 1st and 3rd they can play 2 different hawks teams.

From @Hawthornfc twitter;

"The @AFL has confirmed the order of our triple-header preseason match - 6.45pm Feb 17, Etihad: Tigers v Roos, Roos v Hawks, Tigers v Hawks."

Personally, I like having our two games back-to-back. This way we don't have to sit around waiting during the other game.

More time for a pre-game lemon squash ;)

Can't wait, it seems forever since they last played.

And you know what cause I won't be there to watch it live as I live in Qld, I'll be there in spirit by watching it live on Foxtel, along with all the other Nab games and just about every Hawks game this year. Except for one game as I'll be at the G for the round one clash.

We will take a differant approach this year ......watch for Woodward to make a big impact ....

You really like this guy hey HBD :D . I havent had an opportunity yet to get to training this year. Would like to see him on the track before the game hopefully.

Do we play first and second, first and third or second and third? Would be good to have the game break which would allow us to change our team line up and give more players a chance.

That's exactly what we wouldn't want. Players cooling down then having to go back out and play again.....recipe for disaster(injury).

Very good point. Happy to play back-to-back.

So damn excited about the footy returning, I loathe the off season.

Can't wait to see how Frank, Woodward and Langers go (should they see game time of course).

Another thing to consider is that when we play, the other two teams have already played a game. This allows us to see how they play, and possibly tweak tactics, as well as them both being tired when we play them.

So what time does our first game start?

Hopefully I can have the kids asleep in bed and then jump on the tram, getting there just in time.

Well two 20 minute halves are played for each match. Depends how long half time and the break between games last. Maybe add another half an hour for that onto the the 40 minute game time and you get 7.55pm....I think.
