Heres hoping we keep fighting as well in '07.

Good on them Good work Brisbane!

I thought Brisbane were dead after the 1st Quarters effort But really wasnt that a poor effort by St Kilda?
AAARRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

One hour ago you were preparing for a wooden spoon. Now you are having ago at St Kilda without even seeing the game??

We were the more experienced team out there tonight. That will not be the case in almost every game this year. Let's keep the analysis on hold until we have seen the game.

They didnt kick a goal for a whole half a footy?

What's everyones thoughts on the debutants?

Kiel- Good at the start of the match. Showed enough promsie to play next week. Looks happy to play in the centre circle, kicked a goal.

Tyler- Did reasonably well as a forward, though I expected him in defense. He kicked a crucial goal, I was happy with him.

It was live in Melbourne.

Some good news-
Merett punching teh ball away and soccering, to make it travel 100 metres in total.

Bad news-
Adcock did his ankle.

What I liked was that they came back strong even when it was only a preseason match that didn't mean much. Hopefully that will be a good sign for the year. Sydney has shown attitude and effort go a long way in the AFL.

Look I must admit I didnt think Brisbane had a chance at the end of the 1st Quarter I was quite annoyed about that BUT I will say this though, They didn't give up and they tried thier hearts out and in the end thats what won us the game.

Pity about Jed Adcock and Haydn Kiel though:(

All in all they did very well. It was worth it being in a Saints chatroom just to hear what was going on and lucky for them they had the game on a webcam so we all could watch it I actually did feel for the saints supporters though, god they get so worked up.

Loyallion, If you were not a Brisbane supporter I would have called you the biggest knobhead to post on this forum for quite a while. Go back and check your posts. Every single one of them has a touch of pesimistic hysterics. Leigh's selections were questioned, skill levels of our players derided, and now we won because of St Kilda's poor effort. Like I said if you were not a Lions supporter I would have let loose with a few more choice words than just a knobhead.

First point. IMO the reason why Schmidt and Hawksley would have been left is because of the playing conditions. There is only so many six footer plus players a team can carry in conditions such as the game was played.
Secondly our skills improved as the game progressed and we got used to the conditions. In comparison to what I saw of Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood and North we are on par if not better than the teams I have mentioned.
St Kilda lost because we adapted to the conditions better, showed better skill level playing the conditions, showed more determination, guts and heart and because we were the better team on the night.

I'd suggest next time you read what you write and think before you press the POST button.

I am watching the Essendon Carlton match now and it is a pretty reas game for this time of the year. I hope you are right Irel.

BTW good to see Mal getting hammered by the umps with the new rule. The Essendon backline is a mess.

Did my Flying V get a run?

Sorry, i'll stop now.

To think there's 20 pages of this stuff:D

It's going to be a very tough assignment next week against the Bulldogs. That will give us a better idea of where we are at.

Woohoo!

I was a bit worried when I saw the half time score, but as the little flash ticker on the official site made its way to full time, the smile on my face got bigger and bigger. Yes, it's only pre-season, but a win's a win, and it's good to see a couple of oldies and newbies showing some real promise.

If the doggies are going all out in the pre season, it should be a good litmus test...
