Another that annoyed me pre christmas now that I think back was Thomas and Goldsak waiting too long to get surgery I thought at the time it was mistake and I just hope we do not pay too high a price for it.
It wasn't a mistake.

Well they had two choices and they chose the wrong one
They chose correctly based upon the information available. Had they access to the information that was unavailable, they obviously would have made a different choice.

Link to post match interview with Rodney Eade on the Collingwood website here

Hey, does anybody else reckon Rodney Eade reminds them of John Clarke?

I wonder if anybody has ever thought to ask John Clarke to do a Rodney Eade pisstake?

...

lukem: So are you concerned about that performance by Collingwood today?

John Clarke: What performance would that be?

lukem: Well, the game today?

John Clarke: There was a game today?

lukem: Yes, um, er, Geelong seemed to be clearly dominant, don't you think?

John Clarke: Oh, we played a game against Geelong? Well that would explain it then!

lukem: Explain what?

John Clarke: Well, that'd explain why we all came up to Geelong today on a big bus of course.

lukem: Well, yeah ...

John Clarke: Have you tried these jelly snakes? The raspberry ones are my favourite. Here try one ...

lukem: Oh, thanks.

John Clarke: So when does this game start?

...

Not a great way to end a fairly good pre-season. But that said it was the first time we fielded a strong side, and there wouldve been a few guys blowing out some cobwebs.

It is pretty clear that the difference between us making top 4 or falling out of contention is our intensity. When it is switched on, we can beat everyone. When we are off a few percent, we get run through very easily.

We don't man up and we press numbers high up the ground. So if our pressure is down we stand no chance.

I'm willing to put this down to just a practice match at a venue we are not going to play at again in the near future. But I would expect our intensity to be back in r1.

We have a lot of players still to come back in...but a lot are not quite match fit as yet. We need a good start to the year because we have a tricky first few rounds against teams who were middle of the table last year but will be pushing for bigger and better things in 2013.

The thing about that argument is that as professional athletes or clubs either for matter get all the information available and do not leave things to chance.

You have to get all choices right, and that is not a good enough excuse that they did not have all the information.Buckley rightly was annoyed at the time and it is not something he would have in his preparation and I do not thing Scott Pendlebury would do it now professional people do not leave things to chance and even more importantly they make sure they have all the information available, how else can you make the right decision.

Whether you or I like it or not you have to leave nothing to chance the most successful people are the one,s who leave as little as possible to chance ie more professional in their approach to things. It just seems a no brainer to me to get surgery as early as possible I posted about it at the time and looking back in hindsight it was right to be concerned, just get the bloody surgery asap.

You missed the subtle aspect of my post.

The information that was unavailable was how they would respond to conservative management. To have that information at the time, and form an infallible treatment plan, would require a DeLorean, a flux capacitor and 1.21 Gigawatts of power.

I still wish the Delorean were available at the time though.:thumbsu:

Ps I am battling a shoulder complaint atm and the only way to keep it in check is with physio and the only way to rectify it is surgery there comes a time when it cannot be managed and has to be fixed instead and if I were D Thomas and coming off an injury riddled season I would just get the thing fixed because 1 thing none of us can deny it was not sensible waiting.

Yeah given it was at the end of a shitty, frustrating season I reckon I would have taken some real convincing, not to go under the knife straight away and give myself every chance of a full pre-season.

C'est la vie...

Snoop, interested in your thoughts on who was the better performed forward on Friday? - Elliot or Mooney?

I think Mooney was the better 'forward''.
