Naitanui a likely target for GWS

Re: Nat vs kerr

Kerr's actually contracted through 2012.

Other than that, I can't see anything wrong with your plan.

Aside from the fact that that in 2013 Kerr wil be eligible for the vets list, his salary would probably only be $400k and only half of that would count to the cap!

So we'd still hopefully have a decent player on below avergae payments.

But aside from that - nothing wrong with the plan ;)

Well I am happy for memberships to go up by 10 or 20 bucks to keep Naitanui with some under the table payments. That should kick in an extra half a million. :thumbsu:

I am sure there would be no problem if eagles supporters were to set up a Naitanui Appreciation Fund. :D

I would donate to it.

50 dollars, 30,000 people = $1.5m

We can make distributions to Naita of $150k per year for next 10 years.

Naitanui is supposedly getting a lot of extra $$$ from his work with Fiji and the expansion of the game.

I posted earlier about Judd / Carlton and Visi.

If Judd can get paid $$$$ for being a Green Ambasador then NN can get get something similar from a WA company on top of his club payments under the cap. If the AFL block this then we go legal on the bastards. Its the acid test for our board and our club, a line in the sand where we say no freakin way is the AFL going to shaft us again.

Time to make a stand.

Adrian Anderson has said that kind of deal won't fly under the new rules with free agency coming in. Pretty much if a third party company wants to sponsor/hire an AFL player it has to be irrespective of which club they play for.

Two points

1) That's very easy to get around - simply sign 1 year contracts every December.

2) It's a ridiculous imposition - why would a WA company sponsor a bloke who plays in Victoria. And why would a company send mixed messages by sponsoring a club, and then choose a player from a different club to represent them.

The system the AFL is creating is simply wrong.

We could be forced to pay a guy like Nic huge coin based on potential. That is simply wrong.
It is not Nic's fault or the clubs fault, it is the AFL's fault.

Nic is a player who has so much in front of him and yet so much to learn as well.

If GWS are going to offer him huge dollars then it would be irresponsable of the Eagles to pay him bucket loads more than he is worth.

Potential does not always work out and we see it in every kid drafted every year at all clubs, they all have potential yet a very low percentage of them actually become regular AFL players.

i'm sorry but if GWS want to pay Nic $700k per year or whatever the figure is then they can have him. Right now Nic is not worth anywhere near these types of figures. He could end up being but not yet.

Yeah thats kinda the point, its designed to stop it happening at all unless its a job that actually benefits the third party company like a tv, radio or newspaper job.

Nobody wants to lose our future star ruckman for less than what we paid for him after he has already shown so much!
Yep, get that.

What indication has he given he might to a shithole like Western Sydney?

Take this anyway anyone wants to.

NN has no interest in going to GWS. That said, GWS have offered his management $700k per annum over a minimum 3 years.

He is currently on about a third of that.

He will be looked after by WC and tess wasn't as far off the mark as some may think ....

As I said, make of that what you will, most BF posts along these lines are dismissed by me as complete and utter shit.

Cheers

Surely someone will stick their hand in their pocket (Satterley or otherwise) and give him a nice third party sponsorship deal to stay.

I can't imagine him leaving for lifestyle reasons.

Interesting. Do you know how high they'd be willing to go with their offer, or what we'd be willing to offer him?

As i said earlier in this thead, no player has ever left WCE for money (Judd included). The shit that gets done off-field is amazing, and yes - everybody's favourite property man is always good for some advice.

Fact- Hansen gone = 250k spare in 2012
Lynch will go- 300k
Bones will go- 200k
Dalziell (iirc) is out of contract as well he came across on a decent contract aswell- 200k
Nicoski will go- 250k
Plus add the increase to the salary Cap (iirc 5% increase every year)

With these players gone and the beefed up salaries of guys like Lecca, Kerr, Cox, Masten, Ebert, Shuey and co we will have around 700k to throw at him with around 350 to 400 spare in the kitty for the drafted rookies.
I dont see any of these guys above getting a new deal regardless of their situation so we will have enough money to match or get close to GWS offer.
We will undoubtably have the odd trade that we never expect as well.

And if that all fails and he does decide to go then we will get 2 first round compensation picks to take in the next 5 drafts. Win Win either way.

You would still be talking about giving a guy with potential 700K a season.

Cox has never ever been on that type of money and I think we all agree if Nicnat ends up half as good as Cox was that is great.
In fact has any player ever got that much money a season at west Coast???

And we are talking about giving it to a guy with potential??? Cmon seriously.

You're posting quite a lot in this thread for someone that thinks it's a non-issue

No way would we get 2 first round picks, thats G Ablett value not NN.

Due to the fact he would be going after only 3 years on the list the pick he was taken as comes into the equation is my understanding so pick 2 would / should get us something very close to that. Then again don't be surprised if we get thrown a pick straight after our 1st round pick so say maybe a top 10 pick in 2013?:(

We're the Eagles remember, the AFL's whipping boys, no way will we get decent compensation.

ONE first round pick is possible. I think that the idea of the Eagles getting TWO picks for Natanui is overly optimistic.
