I think Nathan's back in Geelong, but according to Seven news he's not going to make his decision until the new year.

Re: nathan ablett

^ That photo looks so photoshopped, but yeah, good to see him back at the club hopefully on his way to continuing his career with Geelong.

Re: nathan ablett

I don't actually think it's photoshopped, it just looks like it because of how sharp the text on the sign is and the line above the text on the sign looks dodgy.
Probably someone using a camera phone and submitting it into the Herald Sun or something because a professional would have a much better camera.

The text is photoshopped of course, but the photo itself is not, it's perfectly natural. The lesser quality would have been as a result of the resize and may have been taken in a hurry, which meant it might have needed sharpening, which can look a bit faked if overdone.

Re: nathan ablett

Okay, cool, thanks mate

Let's hope that Nathan makes the correct decision for his own wellbeing

If that is to continue at Geelong, great, he's a fine player

If it is away from footy, then that too is great as long as it is for his own best interests

He already made his decision, the only reason he is 'thinking about it' is because the club talked him into it... He's gone.

Re: nathan ablett

Did Josh tell you that ?

Straight out of Cameron Mooney's mouth via the news / sports coverage on what channel I can't recall, many weeks ago.

Get realistic... Why would you want a player at the club who obviously doesn't want to be there anyway? He's off in the bush chasing goats around or something... forget about him.

Re: nathan ablett

I'm absolutely positive the leadership group would want to be re-assured he is 100% committed before they'd entertain agreeing to his return.

Personally I doubt he'll play next year. Maybe after a year away he'll see how wasteful it is not to make the best of his talent. Whichever way it goes his persoanal welfare should be the most important thing - and I'm sure, from the club's perspective, it is.

Re: nathan ablett

Spoke to selwood at a restaurant recently and he said nathan's training with the boys at the club, but its behind closed doors away from the cameras. Whether this means he's in for 08 or just keeping fit im not sure.

Re: nathan ablett

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but there are certain advantages to this whole N Ablett thing for the Cats. Makes planning for opposition teams more difficult, maintains the club in the public eye when there isn't much going on, gives Hawkins extra reason to work hard in the off season. If it wasn't for the fact that Costa is very much down-the-line, and I can't imagine a secret like this being kept at any AFL club, I'd call shenanigans.I love a good conspiracy.

One for N Ablett to read

We are told that sometimes the GFC players read these posts, so here goes.

Nathan, I agree with you that the media hounds players and their lives constantly. It seems as though your life is constantly out there, giving you no room to breathe.

Your vision of a free life as you once had it is long gone, now crowded with the hype surrounding your namesake.

There really is only one way you can resolve all of this, to lead and challenge yourself to rise above the mirth and become a great footballer. Sure all of us that write on here are a little bias, however resolving to a past life will not fix the situation.

You have the name of Ablett which comes with a great deal of notoriety, which your father tried this exact same response to the thrust of the media, which we all know the outcome.

The only real way to respond to all of this is to rise to the challenge, take it on.

Giving it away will only increase the media hype, sure it will die down after a while, but I can assure you that in 10 years you will left with the contemplation of what if. It was something that your father couldn't live without, so he came back.

My last words will be a quote from Shakespeare, "We all know what we are, but not what we can be".

Re: One for N Ablett to read

Let the kid make up his own decision. He doesn't need BF posters telling him what to do just so that they can see him back out on the field playing for their team.
There is more to life than football, and Nathan Ablett has other things on his mind. Who knows, the kid is a very talented player, and could return to your football club, but let it be on his own will.
After all, this was the sort of thing that he was trying to escape from in the first place.
All the best to him though.
