Apparently Daniel Harford (Who works with Liam Pickering- Nathan's Manager) said it would be the announcement of Nathan's retirement on SEN.

They say on SEN its more than likely retirement.

Knowing what SEN are like you probably would be better off not believing what they say until you hear it on one of the other radio stations.

SEN have just reported that Nathan's hiatus has been announced at a press conference at the GFC. May play VFL late in 08. Says he has lost his passion

Ablett has quit, not retired. So is leaving the door open for a return.

Nathan Ablett has walked away but has left the door open to a return to Skilled Stadium.
He said he wants a break from the AFL, might play VFL, lack of passion and is very proud of playing in an AFL Premiership.
Kind of what we all expected.

Probably because i was young. Even then i would have the same opinion.

If he was going to walk away give us a chance to get someone else on our list.

I really hope when he comes crawling back the club tells him to bugger off. He had his chance and couldn't hack it despite being wrapped in cotton wool.

But I reckon most people are o.k to see him go because he hasn't exactly set the AFL world on fire.

Geelong's success in the 90s always seemed to have an unhealthy reliance on Ablett snr, whereas this current list is far more balanced and overall talented. Its a shame Nathan has walked, but its not like he's leaving an unfillable hole in the forward line either. Tom WANTS to play, so let him play. I think he's good enough to be fast-tracked into the 22 over the next 2 seasons.
