think we stuffed up big time not taking stevens . dude is a beast.
I'd agree if we didn't bring in Taranto and Hopper last year. We'd have too many slow midfielders now if we picked him.

McAuliffe fits our midfield needs more because he's good in contests and has some speed to him based on what I read.

I'm not saying that Stevens will be a dud at AFL-level. I'm just saying that our selections make sense.

This draft considered a weak draft, while early mail is next years will be stronger. I think we intend to package the picks to trade up or to trade them for clubs desperate for draft pick points.
Well, when we were negotiating with the Dawks for Kosi, they demanded our future 3rd. The fact that Blair stood firm and traded a pick from this current draft says a heck of a lot to me about what he thinks of next years class. His strategy is sell out of drafts they don’t rate and buy into ones they do rate. 2021 a great example

He is a bull but it's like he is stuck in mud.
I was being sarcastic with him being great for Geelong. He is slow. Hence why he drifted. He will go in hard though.

Normally there is a reason why someone drops that far down the draft. It's not just our recruiters who passed on where he was believed to go (early-mid 20's), but also 16 other recruiters did too. I doubt that they all just "forgot" he's still available.

I am not saying i am not happy with McAulliffe. It's just a shame we couldn't take both of those guys...

Plenty to like about McAuliffe. He is as tough as nails, so very different to other mids we have drafted recently, and only has eyes for the ball. He's a lefty, which is a nice point of difference. He is quick both straight and laterally and has a good leg on him. Looks to have a great attitude. Recruiters/clubs like the polished types, Richmond a bit more blue collar.

Yeh not fussed we passed on George Stevens. At junior level being 20-25 kgs heavier and stronger than your opponents is a big deal, at AFL he won't have that luxury and limited ability to cover the ground could get found out as a one trick pony.

At least we took the mid who can get bigger and has enough speed and mobility for greater upside.

Looks like a VFL player to me. Too slow.

Yup agree

Gave me the Arnott vibe from a decade ago

Super cool hand luke strategy by the recruiting team!

The younger Ashcroft is rated better than Will!! They will trade out any high end picks for sure, but they’ll be in contention again next season unfortunately
reckon afl has tampered with sperm of the parents of these gun oppo father sons to bring down rfc

afl will be seething that we made a mockery of their stupid draft trading a shite load of picks for futures

will be a very gloomy morning at afl house tomorrow morning as they try to work out how to stop us

He had a 3.06 seconds 20m sprint which surprised the recruiters. They told us they would consider drafting him but they must have rated Kane higher and didn't want to recruit two big bodied mids. They were concerned about the fact he was 100kg and how he could cover a lot of ground. They knew he was a good kick and elite with his hands.
