The Thunder Perspective.....by thoselionslads

Ewing vs Clarke: If Clarke can do a similar job on Ewing as he did in Darwin two weeks ago, the Lions will win. Without doubt the best forward in the NEAFL, Ewing is dynamic on the lead, strong and kicks straight. It is important for the Lions midfield to make sure the ball carrier is pressured and harassed all day when delivering inside 50 or Clarke could have a long day ahead. Aerially, Clarke has Ewing covered, it is on the lead that Ewing could cause the Lions trouble.

From memory Clarke did well on him earlier in the year as well, keeping him to a solitary goal in junk time.

Consecutive weeks of travel will be a significant disadvantage for NT I think.

I wonder if anyone pointed out that 'Dotree' is actually 'Docherty'...?

Looking forward to this game as much as a home and away game. Rare chance to see the newbies.

I think your right Grim.

Like I said, if the Lions can reduce the quality of the supply, Clarke should do well. Ewing is deceptively quick on the lead.

I think the Lions will win by 45 points.

I don't quite get how he gets Dotree from that. Kept on confusing me in the semi. I could understand if he pronounced the 'ch' as in 'chomp', it'd make sense. But he'd struggle to get it more wrong.

How does the bench work in the ressies - if they picked 18 senior and only 14 of them are allowed on the field at any one time and the bench is only four in size that would mean that only lion's players get to rest?

That's my interpretation too.

nothing on the NEAFL SITE AS YET unless you want to be drowned in Eastern info!:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::mad:
It is so annoying, you can never get any decent Northern info on the NEAFL site! Worse than the Victorian AFL coverage IMO.

geez thats some serious ins there. If you're the Thunder coach reading that lineup you're probably sitting there scratching your head and wondering whether any tactics you try will matter. Lots of AFL experience in that lineup. Probably the only slight negative you could say is that the backline may be a little tall with Michael, Clark and McKeever all down there given a lack of height in the NT lineup.

The Lions guys will be running out the game very well with 4 of them being on the bench at all times. The topups endurance will be tested given only one of them can have a rest at once. Still there's not that many of them to make it a massive disadvantage.

Obviously it'd be hard to fit him in up there with Lisle, Patty K, and Acorn in the team, but I'm a little disappointed we don't get to see S. Michael up forward again. (bearing in mind team sheets are taken with a grain of salt)
Great looking team though.

Karnezis will play through the midfield.

Michael should play a bit all over I expect. A bit of time down back, a bit of time rucking and then a bit of time up forward. I can see him pinch hitting with the coaching staff trying to generate mismatches.

The one I was a little disappointed not to see play was Josh Green. He carves it up at this level and having that little bit of extra pace and ball winning would be handy against the NT.
