Im not a supporter who will criticise his own players especially after a loss but i cannot stand it anymore. i never want to see Tom Lonergan in our side ever again he is useless. He cant mark (how many did he drop today at least 10) he is a shocking kick for goal. He is not agile and is just too slow. I know he is a young but he has had his chances and surely its time we stop perservering with blokes like him and mccarthy!!!

People get on Playfairs back but my god... Lonergan is way out of his depth in the seniors.

We need the big H back and if that fails, Charlie will provide a better option :thumbsu:

I admit Lonergan was pretty ******** today, but I remember saying that about Henry Playfair and he has turned out alright.
But then again we have given these guys plenty of chances to improve and they haven't really, especially Mackie, why isn't he trying to gain weight? I mean come on!

Although I disagree with all your post, these comments are extremely harsh. He's actually probably one of the better kicks for goal...

Venting your frustrations on a guy who has played a total of games that I could count on less than two hands serves no purpose.

hmm you guys turn quickly. wasn't it this week before the selections people were saying 'we need lonergan back in the side' - they put him in, he doesn't perform and you all backtrack and say he's not up to vfl standard!!!

i dont think he should have been played, sure he's kicked a few goals here and there in games, but he doesn't do a lot else, he never really has a huge amount of stats or influence on the game overall, although sure any goal is handy. but considering who we had to choose from, i guess he was the most obvious choice.

i really think prismall would have been a good inclusion though, i think he should get a run next week

see ya later tom and nath

I was very dissapointed with Tom and Nath today. I'm not into bagging my own teams players either but they were of no use to us today at all. It is true. I'm not quite sure what we can do. We recruit ottens for the forward line and we still can't use him.

On the flip side though, how much is Geelong realising we DO need Kingsley????

There will be a few catters supports eating humble pie, including myself.

I'm gonna go the other way and say don't write him off just yet. We've heard alot about Lonergan and been monitoring his form through the VFL and such...but let's not forget he's only played 5 or 6 games at the top level. Sure he's been in top form in the VFL of late...but the pace of Saturday's game was anything but what he's played in AFL before...and turning in any kind of match winning performance in a game of such high standards isn't going to come from just 5 AFL games. The same goes for Nath...just because he's an Ablett, doesn't mean he's going to set the world alight on cue after a handful of AFL games.

I'm not saying he's going to be a superstar, but knowing what he's capable of (7 goals in the VFL, glimpses in the NAB cup) I think he could turn out useful enough to keep him around given a bit more experience and a bit more support...he's not good enough to be a main focal point up forward just yet.
