Not sure if this has been posted, from the save kings reserve FAQs.
But wont you have access to Thebarton Oval and the second oval?
The community will only be able to access these spaces when the Crows aren’t using them.
Want to have a picnic or just take in the tranquillity in the centre square? You’ll have to check the training schedule before you head down to avoid disappointment.
The kids have been bugging you all day to go play on the 50m line. You finally give in, check the training schedule and head down only to find the sprinklers are on or the groundskeeper is out keeping everything at an elite level – sorry kids.
This is straight up Karening.
There’s no trees and shade in the centre square. Not sure if this has been posted, from the save kings reserve FAQs.

I know a few players who’d enjoy such a lineI dunno.

Crows usually train during business hours when kids are at schoolYeah so they are checking the soccer clubs schedule now? My understanding is they have far more access locked away than we will.
We used to go and have a kick on Max Basheer Reserve way back in the day and I don't think I ever looked at a training schedule.
I do love this thoughNot sure if this has been posted, from the save kings reserve FAQs.

If we have trouble with western suburbs residents I can only imagine the nightmare of dealing with the eastern suburbs. At least it's a hockey pitch, imagine the though of the hooligans that play Australian football trying to expand their presence!I saw some discussion on this on Reddit, with a few NIMBY’s playing the ‘can’t they just play on grass’ card (among some other conspiracies about heat islands), oblivious to the fact that hockey’s been played on artificial turf for decades.
What exactly, do these people think were on the ground before their own houses were built years ago?
Made me think of the 1st (of 3) houses my parents built. They built in Hoppers Crossing (Western Suburbs of Melbourne.) - They planted a small tree there about 28ish years ago. The last photo of the region on Google Earth (5 years ago) shows it's huge now. What exactly, do these people think were on the ground before their own houses were built years ago?
Trees......and lots of them made way for the houses they live in now.
If it's one thing I've learnt about people and trees, it's people love big trees on other people's property and will do anything to stop them being cut down, unless the leaves are falling in their own gutters.Made me think of the 1st (of 3) houses my parents built. It's not that hard to plant trees. And in a decade or two it can be better. Sure, the people complaining might be buried by the time that occurs, but at least their children can enjoy something better than is there now.
The opposition to the forestville club is ridiculousI saw some discussion on this on Reddit, with a few NIMBY’s playing the ‘can’t they just play on grass’ card (among some other conspiracies about heat islands), oblivious to the fact that hockey’s been played on artificial turf for decades.
Not to mention the 93 private schools in the area, and rugby/cricket on Waite reserveThe opposition to the forestville club is ridiculous
Complaining about traffic and congestion
It’s a hockey club. At that same school is the Unley life be in it where every weeknight and all weekend are junior and senior indoor soccer, netball and basketball
And just down the other end of the road is Kingswood oval where Unley jets hog the streets every night and weekends
Hockey wouldn’t get a 1/10th of the traffic these other places bring
The new swimming Centre at Scotch is a ****ing shit showNot to mention the 93 private schools in the area, and rugby/cricket on Waite reserve
Didn't the Council cut down a swag of Norfolk Pines lining Brighton Road & Anzac Highway ......where were the protests then ?Made me think of the 1st (of 3) houses my parents built. We don't need masts for ships any more. And Norfolk Island Pines were shit ship masts anywayDidn't the Council cut down a swag of Norfolk Pines lining Brighton Road & Anzac Highway ......where were the protests then ?
Plus ....it helps when they actually get watered & not have paving up to their base, taking any natural water away from the treesWe don't masts for ships any more. And Norfolk Island Pines were s**t ship masts anyway
Just on that, Holdfast Council is a notoriously shit council .. small and incompetentPlus ....it helps when they actually get watered & not have paving up to their base, taking any natural water away from the trees
The Councils have a lot to answer for over the years .....destroying what was iconic Sth Aust
A heap of big ones went for the north south motorway at croyden.Didn't the Council cut down a swag of Norfolk Pines lining Brighton Road & Anzac Highway ......where were the protests then ?
I've always thought ADEL needed way more trees .....their extra wide roads can make the landscape look very sparce, without treesA heap of big ones went for the north south motorway at croyden.
s**t happens, trees get cut down trees get planted.
It’s a city not a rainforest.
The planting of 500,000 trees to create cooler spaces for residents of Melbourne’s western suburbs has been unveiled by the Victorian government.
It is hoped that the $5 million initiative to plant new trees across six local councils that have been earmarked as home to growing populations will improve air quality in the western suburbs and have a significant cooling effect.
Acting premier James Merlino said that the experience of the pandemic reminded the community of the importance of physical and mental health to have green open spaces close to home.
“These trees will mean more families in the western suburbs can enjoy a cooler, cleaner environment around them,” he said.
The problem of an ‘urban heat island’ is worst felt in Melbourne’s west compared with other metropolitan areas, which in 2018 had a recorded urban area canopy cover of 5.5%, compared with 17.4% in the inner south-east, and 25.9% in the east.
Plenty of those along the lifted up foot paths on south rd thebarton.I've always thought ADEL needed way more trees .....their extra wide roads can make the landscape look very sparce, without trees
Planting Ghost Gums was ridiculous, given their propensity to have big branches break off .....prefer the Plane Trees that have been getting planted in recent years
Water hungry .....someone made strange calls in Adelaide, which does not have the necessary waterfall IMOPlenty of those along the lifted up foot paths on south rd thebarton.
They look nice but are maintenance nightmare.
Gutters and pits full of leaves footpaths and roads lifted and cracked.
They were, partial to snapping. We don't need masts for ships any more. And Norfolk Island Pines were s**t ship masts anyway
