I take no credit for the elements used in this design but I added the ‘1870’ and changed the trim colours as others have suggested. The silver is probably my favourite of the three.
I like how the silver replacement is slightly dodgy in that there's still a tiny border of teal around it.

I disagree re: the circle for two reasons.

1. It’s just relic of the SANFL template logos. All the clubs had them so it’s nothing special to us.

2. In other sports circle logos are widely used but it’s generally a graphical representation of the ball from that sport e.g. soccer, basketball, baseball. Not applicable to Aussie Rules of course.

Funnily enough I think aesthetically this new logo would look great as a circle, but it doesn’t make much sense to use one.

1. Shit reason. It is our historical logo. Couldn't care less if other teams had the same template. They had lace ups too which were considered a SANFL relic and we hung on to that for as long as we could, don't know if anyone was suggesting we should have dropped them like a stale old potato at the time.

I'll draw up a circle logo later based on this since I suck at computer picture making.

It’s not that historical. When did we start using it, sometime in the 70s?

Your HQ is probably older than the logo lol.

It is special to us as we came from the SANFL, carrying that little bit of tradition into the big leagues would have been a nice touch and it looks great.

Yeah I’m more inclined to say f@&k the SANFL. They’ve never represented us or supported our interests so I have no urge to acknowledge them in any meaningful way.

It is always meaningful to acknowledge that we are the only club outside of Victoria to earn it's way in to the premier league in the land and not be created to put dollars in the coffers.

We are from the competition (ignore the admins). We BUILT the bloody thing.

A circle doesn’t convey any of this.

In fact 1870 does this job much much better and it’s already on the guernsey.

I'm confused regarding your conflict about retaining our pre-AFL identity and imagery.

I bought a BBTB T-shirt so I’m all for preserving our pre-AFL identity, but I don’t think a circle is a very important part of that. The Bars were worn for almost a century before we entered the AFL, the circle logo was probably only used for about 20 years to that point and is common to all SANFL clubs.

What did we use before the SANFL imposed the circle template? What did we use when we won 6 in a row during the 50s? Why aren’t they as important?

What is AC/DC's logo? Because if you are thinking the big bold red and yellow letters with the bolt inbetween, that didn't come in til about five albums in. Some would say they had already peaked by then, yet that logo is easily the most recognisable image they've put out.

It doesn't matter when it comes in or what it wasn't there for, the circle logo became iconic to Port and timeless. It stuck. It is still sticking in the SANFL.

We did drop lace ups.

RussellEbertHandball might have a more accurate answer but I reckon the SANFL roundel logos coming into play around 1974.
If they came in earlier, it wouldn't have been before 1972 because I've seen badges and bags branded differently from the early 70s.

Magpie Roundel from 1974 to 1996 = 22 years
Power Badge from 1997 to 2019 = 22 years

I disagree with you edge. The contents of the circle are iconic, but we can’t use those, and the circle is just a container for them.

We didn't have a logo as such prior to the SNAFL standardisation.

We did use this in 1967 though, which is a mild reference to PBs in a shield.

No point posting alternate logo designs, the club isn't going to change the joint logo 4 days out from launch?
