Does anyone have any information on a new team being allowed into SFL Div three this week to fill the Bye. I have heard that the SFL have done a repeat performance as they did with PARKMORE in allowing an non-established Team/Club into Third Division with no established club infrastructure. If true it is another recipe for failure in the long run.

Interesting.... were talks last year of carnegie reforming but i doubt at this late stage that anything like that could happen. looking forward to my 3 games off this year anyhow, breaks the season up a bit!!!!

It's a club from the VAFA that split from an amalgamated club.

The original amalgamated club was Box Hill North/Whitehorse but I think the one one joining SFL Div 3 is Whitehorse.

No no.. Whitehorse Pioneers are a seperate club in the EFL Div 4.

This is an entirely different club, not sure if they are actually called 'Whitehorse' but it is a club that is being seperated from an amalgamation that previously competed in the VAFA.
The club is from an area near Box Hill.

Whitehorse Pioneers were formed from an amalgamation of Box Hill Pioneers (left SFL after winning div 3 flag in '97) and Whitehorse jnr football club.
Maybe the union has gone bad?????

OK..I'll say it...So what are the SFL now promoting Ethnic segregation??? Why is an all "one ethnic group" club promoted as a positive, will it end up like the Soccer who found out that it couldnt work and went to the A league... What infrastructure is in place for this club, As my original post theme was "Is this another One year wonder Parkmore side." I think so....

im actually taking alittle offence to this all asian team. i dont think its right having an all asian team. how would they feel if we just had an all white team. Its not setting a good example and as wonky knees has stated there could be racial trouble.

I am preety sure it's the same team (before this gets to heated!!!) as i was interviewed for the senior gig at box hill north. they had set up this team to try and get the mainly asian community of box hill playing football, firstly attached to box hill north then eventually forming there own club. Box hill north also have affilation with the japenese afl side and have played against them when they were out here last with the afl world cup. Smart thinking on part of box hill north, but wether this side would be sustainable in the SFL well time will tell, all i know is they are pinching players off me!!!!!

The side was set up to allow a bunch of mates to play together that were Asian, but the side will not be just asian.

As far as I know the club will be just like any other club which should make you all happy.

I for one think it's a good thing for the SFL and Div 3 and the only concern moving forward is that they can provide 2 sides every week.

The Dragons have a number of "non-Asian" players - they aren't specifically a club for Asian players, but one of their key objectives is opening up the world of Aussie Rules to a group of people who otherwise wouldn't associate themselves with the sport.

Wonky,as I understand the team is predominantly Asian with other nationalities as well, just the opposite of some clubs that have the majority Australians and a few multicultural boys. The only people that will make a big deal out of a team such as this are racists, in fact it should be seen as good for footy when a large number of blokes play football that typically have played other sports in the past. This team is coached by a bloke that played the most games for Sandy Dragons and is employed by the AFL, he is no dill and finds anything outside the rules as abhorrent to the point where I have seen him take his own players off if they swear! So the only problems will come from blokes from other teams that stupidly cannot see the benefit of our great game expanding into other cultures. We for one are looking forward to playing this new team and having a beer with them afterwards and we will make them feel welcome. Good on them and the SFL

You should be a politician with that dribble james.... not racist to make a point that its a bit hypocritical to have an all asian team made up for that reason as apposed to a majority Australian team that can only play players that turn up no matter where they come from..

Before this thread turns into something that it was not meant to be - Lets just say that we now know there is a new team in the comp, we have been told who they are via the league meeting and we await their own announcement of who they are and the new fixture shortly. We will then see what happens I suppose.
