Near the end of the Carlton game today Marc murphy had the triangle of his jumper cut off, possibly so that he could pull the jumper off easier since he wears his jumper tight

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

Gosh those Carlton jumpers look really uncomfortable. Surprised the players can actually breathe, the necks look like they're literally choking the players. Bring back the vee-neck I say!!!
As for Murph's jumper, I'm not too sure that he intentionally cut it off during the game. I could understand after the game, but I assume it got torn in the match. Reckon he/Carlton could get in a bit of strife with Nike if he intentionally cut their logo off the guernsey

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

I like it, it has a old style look to it.
Maybe Nike will notice it and change the collar next season.... we can only dream of more v necks.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

Seriously, does anyone here prefer the current round-style collars over the old fashioned vee-necks??? I really hope not...

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

I can understand the round collar, but really, you can have a tight v neck, the collar doesn't have to be huge.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

I do. It makes the jumpers look modern. V-necks are old.

I'm sure that 99% of people the board disagree with me.

I sorta see your point too. But some of the necks look bloody ridiculous and I imagine would be terribly uncomfortable. You can muck around with a vee-neck as well, they don't all have to be the same.

Here are some examples:

The Nike ones do look ridiculously tight, but I still like them. The best collars would have to be ISC and Adidas, though.

Totally agree about ISC and Adidas collars - quite tight around the neck but the whole collar gives the impression of a V-neck (most obvious with the black-on-white with St Kilda and Collingwood respectively).

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

A less steep V-neck would be ideal. Something like this:

Exactly :thumbsu:

I'm not against updating and modernising, unfortunately it must be done. I'm a bit of a traditionalist and just reckon some of those templates would be really annoying/uncomfortable to wear in-game too. I've noticed it a bit the few times I trained in my 2011 port guernsey compared to some of my older ones. Not only this, but I also reckon some of the necks/collars f*ck with the designs a bit too much as well

These necks were beautiful, and a lot like SilentAlarm suggested:

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

Haha why not?
I got too emotionally involved in St. Kilda that year... and last year...
I actually lost money on them last year. Stupid draw....

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

Oh dear, sorry to learn that. And you also like Newcastle United. ;)
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here :p

But, I jumped o St. Kilda because, well, what werw Richmond doing 2 years ago? ahahahaha

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

When port do shit, I usually get around Hawthorn as my 'second team'. Without Buddy they're probably pretty buggered though, especially considering there's no Roughy :(
One of the only reasons I can't get around St Kilda too much is because my best mate goes for them. Imagine the shit I would've copped from him after port's last 5 years :/

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

One of my close mates is a West Coast supporter.
And in the pre-season I wrote off half there list (I was right) but he still reminds me of there ladder spot. I just tell him it's a fluke:D

Re: New Jumpers for 2011 (3)

My list goes-
1. St Kilda
2. West Coast
3. Brisbane
...
...
...
17. Essendon
18. Collingwood
