Re: New Jumpers for 2011

Richmonds warm up guernseys look awesome - should replace the pre season tops with it.

If you didn't see it, I just got a glimpse on the TV, it had the tiger head in the same position but instead of the swirly mess they have a subtle (it was grey on a black warm up shirt) tiger stripe pattern, looked great.

How are you watching this in the UK out of interest mate?

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

I don't mind North's new Argentina jumper (assuming it's predominately light blue on the back), it's better than the 2010 version. But as it's been said about a million times, they should just go with the white vee on royal blue option already.

Richmond's looks good on paper, but is messy IRL, not a fan of it.

Collingwood's looks good except for the weird shoulder panel, it looks completely unnecessary.

EDIT: The logos on the front of North's still look horrific though.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

That Collingwood clash looks amazing. If the Emirates logo were black-on-white, it'd be perfect.

In a perfect world we wouldn't have the weird side half-stripes and shoulder cut-offs either. But hey, dare to dream. What comes closest for my liking is the 2007 clash - my favourite and would love to get a hold of one (or any Collingwood clash for that matter).

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

Before X-Blades was their sponsor the Mazda logo just had a white outline, instead of a whole box around it which completely interrupts the stripe. The club logo is also an unnecessary addition to the jumper that interrupts the stripes and throws off the balance.
As for the actual design, I guess it's a mild improvement. Hopefully the blue is a bit darker this time but I'm very surprised they didn't use the old V design after they published this. Another good option in my opinion would have been something like this which doesn't move away from the stripes.

The white V jumper just seems like such an obvious option that not only looks better, but has meaning.

On a side note, do Blades even try with their jumpers? The performance aspect of jumpers would make a minimal difference, but theirs just seem so out of date.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

This new adidas Collingwood template is extremely confusing to interpret; angles, stripes and lines everywhere.
The white clash looks to be a new template altogether from the black home (and possible black clash), with the sides having a seemingly vertical, erm, seam. However, due to the body-hugging/contoured nature of the jumper, this actually contradicts the vertical stripes, hence the weird triangle bits on the smaller-sized jumpers.

ie. what is the "striaght" line here, the design's stripe or the template's seam?

Really not sure how I can translate this into an accurate template for you guys

I believe what Adidas has done with their football guernseys over the past few seasons is a disgrace. I'm all for incorporating new technology and performance elements, but FFS, at the end of the day it is a football jumper. They need to stop over-complicating the design/template/production.
I see absolutely no need for whatever the hell that abortion of colours/triangles/seams on down the sides of the Collingwood clash guernsey. How hard can it be to make a white jumper with three black stripes and leave the sides clean, without all the crap. It adds nothing to the jumper but clutter and inconsistency between different sized players. And don't get me started on those awful cuffs, shoulders and stripes above the numbers.

The design stripe is straight when no pressure is applied, but the seam is made to stretch from bent to straight when pressure is applied, so as a matter of physics the stripe has to bow out.

'At rest', it's no different to the template they've released (extra stripes for the clash strip aside). It just looks odd when it stretches.

Melbourne's Alternate Clash Strip looks very similar to Sydney Swans's uniform

I never thought Melbourne would ever share the same colours as Sydney

Agreed on most points, it's a bit of a shemozzle the way Adidas have gone about it. Their fancy triangles and arrows and shoulder panels do nothing else than add unnecessary, unwanted elements.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

1. Agreed, Adidas should be able to make a simple jumper, that being said. It's a thousand times better than what it was last year. So much cleaner. But, yes, the shoulder thing is odd, and so is the triangles on the side. Why don't they just cut off the front and back at one seam? Like most clubs, and don't have the shoulder patch? It'd make the stripes a). connect and b). just look better. Oh and this is something of mine, I always like shorts with the side line straight and thick so you can see the colour, so good effort by sides at the moment doing that again.

2. Doesn't Freo's jumper look good? Personally I was unsure of it at first, but I'm loving it now. Looks so clean and good! Really top effort. Now just see how the white one goes.

3. Richmond can loose the silver swurly lines on there NAB Cup jumper. And the green Bingle.com box doesn't work does it?

4. What do you guys think of the NAB Cup Pool format? I enjoy it. Good concept, could so with some tweaking, but, everything needs a run first.

5. Mazda have often avertised car model's on the back of the North jumper... so, it's not really a 'new' sponsor. But, I guess it's like the EPL who change the jumper every year for gear sales. Clever by North who need the cash.

Pics of Collingwood's clash guernsey from all angles. Go Pies :thumbsu:

apart from the hinky adidas crap, I don't see the resistance to this guernsey from certain sectors of the Collingwood supporter base. It's basically the jumper they wore from 1976 to 2000 which includes the 1990 Premiership.

When I think of the cocky arrogant Collingwood this jumper is how I picture them, not the black backed thing.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

It's looks like NSW Pale Blue
PMS 277.

I have an NSW state jumper in that colour.

I saw the striped GWS jumpers on FoxSports News channel today and it definitely was silver and not light blue as some suspect. It is the same colour as the part of the collar with the buttons on it

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

That's what pisses me off. They use the best jumper as a clash kit because post-2000 they started wanting to have home dark and away light, so crap. Ruined their heritage and popular opinion on what they should wear (face it).
