We weren't immune to the cash grab;

My take on Fremantle: go for it, but I'd have preferred them to wear their original home and away jumpers in a couple of consecutive matches. Could then wear the new chevron 25 jumper in one other home game.
If I was them, I'd wear that 25 jumper the whole season, not just one game. Just make it their Home for the year and make it a focal point of their merchandise. If it's just going to be one of those throw away one-offs then it seems to be like, well what's the point? May as well just slap a badge on their normal jumper like Port have done there. Not sure what the AFL's rule would be on having a one-off for the whole year but I think it would be an idea Fremantle probably should have explored in terms of maximising the whole '25 Year' Shabam.

On another note, imagine if we wore our 125th jumper the whole season

I get what you're saying, but no thanks. We're enough of a joke already
Hawks wore a back to back commemorative jumper for a year (as in wore recently to commemorate flags in the 80s or 90s) so it’s not unheard of.

I forgot about that, 2011.
Did they swap into the normal home in the finals?

The writing isn't as prominent as FootyJumpers.com suggests Mero
If you took a life-size print of Mero's jumper and put it in that spot on the field and took a photo from the same place, it probably wouldn't look so prominent then :p

Similarly if you looked at the real jumper as close as you look at Mero's on the screen, it's probably as prominent.

You know, that's a really good point.

Yeah that's true, but I reckon the commemoration was much more subtle on that one, based on the above photo

Maybe it’s just me, but I’d like to see teams make drastic changes to their home jumper every couple of years. This could be the first step. Looks Freo but holds another meaning.

No no no no no no no

Away jumpers do what you want with them, but home traditional needs to stay

I agree it opens up the possibility of them ****ing it up badly, but I’d like to see Port experiment just a bit more. Although that could be dangerous as that’s what we did in the 2000s

I'm in two minds. I do like how the premier league and such changes it up every year, while generally sticking to a basic theme. Would I want that in afl? Not sure. On one hand I would be down to see some variation in designs from teams such as North or the Pies, but I wouldn't want anyone touching the wings, so I guess that's hypocritical.

Join the bottom of the 2 & 5 and widen the top. Take the green and red from between the ‘chevrons’ and make that space purple. You get an anchor, green and red that isn’t in your face and a clever negative space 25 chevron design... win-win!

I’m gonna need to see your badge.
I haven't seen you around here before but craegus is right. This thread is for confirmed news about jumpers, sponsors, etc for 2019 while the Jumper Ideas thread is for concepts.

Real kits that have been released/leaked go in this thread.

Photoshops (even modifications of actual designs) go in Jumper ideas for 2019.

It is not that hard.
That said, when a new jumper is released, sometimes ideas for improving that jumper come up organically as part of the discussion. It'd be frustrating as hell to be talking about the idea and then have to refer to the other thread to look at it.

Perhaps there's a middle-ground? New jumper comes out, discussion ensues, somebody thinks this alteration would have been better (green and red in the 2 and 5, for example), it can be posted in a spoiler so it's not clogging up the thread or looking like a legit new release. Common sense is used to ensure that if it's moving off course we take elsewhere the discussion of ideas on that particular jumper, but a quick deviation is allowed.

I personally hate when threads get derailed but I think perhaps we're keeping a little too much on the main line; let's allow us to use a small siding every now and then? :)

In the context of this thread I think it should be allowed to stay, it's not an idea for next years' jumper because it's already come out. Rather, it's part of the 25 jumper discussion as to how they could've/should've improved it and while some could express this through words, cannavo has decided to create an image.

Well, I don’t want to derail this thread, but since this is part of a discussion - I’ve been round here nearing on a decade (not that this matters anyway?) and think on the footy graphic design board people should be encouraged to post their graphic design if it’s contextually relevant.

Like, I get wanting a a structured forum, but if a jumper comes out shouldn’t there be, yknow, visual discussion about it on the graphic design board - it just stifles the natural conversation aspect imo.

I agree with the idea of middle ground and discussion on the new releases.

But I'm not sure images need to be posted, the Freo jumper could have been explained and we would all know what he is on about.

That's what the spoiler is for - keeps the thread uncluttered but shows the concept for those of us more visually-minded. If the discussion overtakes, we redirect ourselves to Jumper Ideas.

If people put in the spoiler that's probably fair enough, I don't mind that
