My source is as credible as they get; Adelaide has EXPLORED a new clash jumper, and MAY put it to another public vote like this season.

Take this as; Adelaide has a clash jumper design, and if they change it it's because of a fan vote they've rigged.
Why would you change such a good design?
Outside of the fact the Crows board seem more interested in operating as a business and turning profits

Belly's first act? If his second is arseholing Ross Lyon we're on a roll!
Is that guy still on the board who has this major hang up over anything bar the chevrons still there?
From memory he knocked the Pavs first/last jumper idea down

All I’m gonna ask, is it ugly or not?

Suuuuurely they’ve learned from last year when the fans overwhelmingly told them we didn’t want to change. Unless its changing the hoop order to put navy at the top, or changing back to a gold base, just leave it FFS.

You answered your own question. We own an e-sports team, a baseball team and have some sort of connection with the 36ers. Being a football club seems secondary to anything else at this point.

I think also the merchandise manager could be as much to blame in this. I’ve heard a few times that he’s a major factor in changing up the design. He probably has KPI’s to meet in terms of Crowmania store profits and keeping the same jumper designs doesn’t help with sales.

Well either my source has no clue this is going on, or the image in the .pdfs is a placeholder after all...

Nah, Peter Bell. As in the guy who played about 250 games for Freo and the Kangaroos. He's the new head of football at the club.

I remember Belly.
Surprise move back to the club (although it does ring a bell now) given he seemed to have a nice balance between a real job outside of footy and the odd cameo for Fox at Perth games.

Brand wise, it's fine now to have a throwback jumper.
There wouldn't be many players left that ever fronted up in the Anchor at the club.

This one seems odd to me, given all teams would have a store they want to turn a profit on.

I believe you when you say it, I find it amazing the club would actually either set such unrealistic KPI's or employ someone who if that is his belief (turning $$ over the club)

I think he was always involved with the club at some capacity but since a few rats have had their nets tossed and they've scampered to Melbourne, Belly has a pivotal role.

But it's mostly a footballing one, on field, coaching and list management overseeing. Doubt he's curating our image or designing jumpers.

At the same time, my point has always been that the Stoives are very business minded. They see things like security as good for the image. They're never going to deviate from the purple and white and chevrons on a jumper because they see it as the be all and end all. Maybe that's changing. In a way it's a shame that Freo are the best at maintaining a clear, concise image and not the big Victorian clubs or the Brisbane Lions who love murkying up what their elements and colours are.

Can't hurt to get a few ex players, particularly with Belly's Freo CV, back involved.
Too many business men can be damaging as they may be able to turn a profit, but lack the nous to see the little fabrics that make up a footy club.
Better Belly than Pav, who would be back too soon and seen a messiah, or savour to the club given the last few seasons.

Probably not, but he may just be that perspective that deviating from the jumper for one game out of 22 isn't a bad thing and may actually bring fans a bit closer to the club.
Plus on the upside, you're bound to sell a lot of them, providing you don't go and **** the whole thing up by either, it not looking like it should, or having names plastered across the whole thing.

I love the brand Freo has built since 2012, the logo has really grown on me after not really getting it at first, the colours are extremely strong and it's a symbol of your most successful period (GF, Prelims, Brownlows) however, ISC, Woodside and Programmed have been there the whole time (outside of one re branding and one re colouring) so there is little to no initiative to ever buy new jumpers, which does effect the bottom line somewhere.

I would rather security in image than chopping and changing, not knowing who you are, particularly through a tough rebuild phase.

I'd love to know if any throwback would have the anchor or not and where the anchor actually sits in terms of copyright. There was word, around the rebrand, that we reneged the anchor to use 'Dockers' officially (bad choice) but surely that isn't actually right. We use one in the logo.

I wonder if the actual 'shonky cotton' version of the anchor (that I thought used to look like a seagull with a stick through it) is copyrighted in itself? A little like how Carlton's classic monogram is a rougher version of the official monogram?

Also sort of on this, but anyone else find it weird that Shannon Hird thanked Hungry Jacks, BHP, then SGIO? I know the latter is leaving. BHP must be a chance to takeover surely? I always find it weird that such a big pricky company sponsored little old Swans in the WAFL.

Didn't that whole jeans company/dockers situation get fixed up in the late 90s?

I guess it's fair enough he acknowledged SGIO, given how strong their support has been for the Eagles. I'm not sure why BHP was mentioned, as they fall under 'Premier Sponsors', so why they got a mention and AGL (who appear on the uniform) didn't is surprising. Although, speeches like those tend to be spur of the moment, so it's possible that BHP was the first thing that came to mind

Would like us to ditch the white jumper, and have red-based and gold-based clash jumpers instead.

I think it was around the same time as the re-brand, Freo made a point of officially becoming the Freo Dockers, rather than Fremantle FC. Supposedly, we pay Levis $1K a year to use the Dockers name.
I could be wrong though

I have a feeling that Underarmour sponsors someone. Purely based off my post a while back of them following only a couple clubs on insta.

The Brisbane Lions colours and jumper are an acknowledgement of the merger of the Brisbane Bears and Fitzroy. The use of the most recent Fitzroy red colour is done to create the link between Brisbane and Fitzroy in the minds of former Fitzroy supporters. The Fitzroy red colour was introduced when colour television was introduced, meaning that peoples memory of Fitzroy is limited to them wearing those colours. Because of this the wearing of the Fitzroy red jumper for Victoria by the Brisbane Lions. Them wearing the jumpers also shows the Victorian supporters that the club is thinking of them.

The greatest link the Brisbane has to the jumper and the colours they wear is the fact they won three premierships in a row wearing that jumper. Moving away from those colours and jumper design is like moving away from success for the supporters. The introduction of the "Paddle Pop" Lion was seen as the moving away from success. The same thing was seen recently with the Carlton CFC. Fans wanted the old CFC brought back because that is what they remember Carlton wearing winning all there premierships.

So with all those things in mind I have designed the following Brisbane jumpers. From left to right and up to down, the jumpers are the Home jumper, the Victorian jumper and the Clash jumper. The home jumper is the jumper that the club wore in the three premierships recently. The Victorian jumper is in the colours that Fitzroy wore most recently, with the lion logo on the front. The clash jumper is done in the style of the first Brisbane Bears jumper, with the gold being the dominate colour as it is on a clash jumper. All jumpers are of similar design except for the back of the clash jumper which has a higher yoke to accommodate the number below. These three jumpers pay respect to the past of the Brisbane Lions.

1) The Lions appear to be a part of the AFL's "White Percentage" policy that seems to be applied randomly.
2) Nice design, but keep it in the Jumper Ideas thread

The names of the threads are similar and should be separated by a name like "Official New Jumpers for the 2019 Premiership Season" for this thread and Jumpers Ideas for 2019 for the other. If this thread is for the news and the talk about New Jumpers that have been officially released, the title "Official New Jumpers for the 2019 Premiership Season" should be given.
I'm no mod
