I read somewhere that it looks too similar to the Bears uniforms, now I can't unsee it.
And now neither can I haha. That hadn’t registered at all until I read this.

Not shown among the unused: the Packers were considering changing to metallic gold for the 1994 season. This would have been the home jersey, paired with gold helmets and pants. Ron Wolf was all set to pull the trigger...and then he had Ted Thompson model the prototype and run around Lambeau, at which point Wolf wondered "What the hell are we doing?" and stood pat.

In an amusing coincidence, from 1998-2000, my high school team wore home jerseys virtually identical in all but two ways to the Packers prototype: just change the collar to green and replace the G's with green & gold Philadelphia Eagles heads. For the bonus, the same company (Ripon Athletic) made both the Packers prototype and our uniforms.

Entirely anecdotal but friend of mine worked on the Rams rebrand. Not the uniforms mind you but the graphics package that plays in Sofi stadium on game day.

Anyway I asked him if his firm worked on the jersey redesigns as well because they were horrendous (IMO).

“Nope but c’mon have you seen the way Stan Kroenke dresses? What makes you think his final approval is based on good taste?”

And from personal experience after helping out with Graphics for the Raiders be thankful that their jerseys are too iconic to mess with.

But honestly this isn’t new or unique in the branding or design community, often you’re pitching to clients who are as artistic as Kurt Warner is mobile. They have the final say and generally that’s a terrible thing. Doesn’t matter if it’s Apple’s PR team for a show tease, Disney for a film launch or the NFL on jerseys, the people making the decisions are never the ones designing the product
