For many teams, it may be too late to take advantage of helmet rule change for 2022

So much for the slow time in the NFL.
As teams begin to enjoy the only period of reduced activity in the ever-growing NFL schedule, they need to reconvene for the purposes of deciding in fairly short order an important piece of business for 2022.
According to the memo disseminated on Thursday by the NFL, all teams must decide and declare by July 31 whether they’ll be using a second helmet in 2022. Complicating matters for the various teams is that “the notice date for 2022 uniform changes has passed and no new uniforms can be developed for the 2022 season, other than those previously approved by the League Office for the 2022 season.”
This means that, for example, the Patriots won’t be able to adopt for 2022 an alternate uniform based on their Pat Patriot throwbacks, making the return of a white helmet
impractical before 2023. Ditto for the Tampa Bay creamsicle uniforms, the light blue Oilers helmet as an alternative to the Titans’ uniform, and any other alternate helmets that make no sense without an alternate set of jerseys and pants.
It will allow, however, the Bengals to adopt a white helmet with black stripes to go with their white-on-white look. It also will allow the Broncos to put their old-school snorting horse logo on a lighter blue helmet, to go with their old-school uniforms.
Moreover, it won’t limit teams from matching existing throwbacks or Color Rush uniforms with different helmets than what they had intended. The Steelers could use a yellow helmet with an alternate look, for example. The Cowboys could adopt a white helmet. The Seahawks could, if they choose to burn even more retinas, introduce a helmet with a color that matches their hideous lime green alternative uniforms.
However it plays out, any alternate helmets must be disclosed by July 31 — and any that require uniforms other than those already in place for 2022 will become impractical and most likely not applicable to 2023.

I've got high hopes for Nameplate this year, was nice of him to model this design for the creator in 2012 back in his rookie season... Looked good imo.

49ers considering red helmets from the ‘55 season for 2022
The team tried to get approval to wear their throwbacks in all 17 games

The 49ers unveiled their alternate throwback uniforms last week during the team’s State of the Franchise event. Now, there will be an additional home red jersey that’ll be paired with the white uniform.
The 1955 jerseys and white pants have served as the 49ers' throwback uniform for some time now. The connection is that uniform was brought back and worn during the ‘94 season, so that’s why everyone calls them the ‘94 throwbacks.
Those ‘55 jerseys might not be the only part of the uniform the Niners bring back. 49ers CMO Alex Chang told CBS Sports’ Jeff Kerr the team is considering bringing back the red helmet:
“There are really two options for us. Stick with the ‘94 helmet, which we’re already using today, and we love that look — or a 1955 helmet which was a red helmet with a silver stripe and face mask. We’re looking at both.”
I imagine there would be quite a bit of resistance naturally since many people are opposed to change. It would take a while for us as viewers and fans to get used to, but I don’t hate that look.
Chang also discussed more the marketing side of things with Kerr. This is a process, and we likely wouldn’t see this change for two years:
Towards the end of the interview, Chang said the plan is to maintain the standard that has the regular home and away and the ‘94 reds as the team’s alternate home and the ‘94 whites as the alternate road jerseys.
He went as far as to say that the 49ers tried to get approval for all 17 games to be throwbacks but ended up getting six, which they were happy with.

Browns unveil commemorative 75th anniversary uniforms

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – As the Browns celebrate their 75th anniversary this season, the team will pay homage to their history with special commemorative uniforms.
The team unveiled the special look on the Browns mobile app at midnight Saturday.
The Browns plan to wear a white replica jersey from their 1946 inaugural season, which includes brown numbers shadowboxed with an orange outline and the team’s official 1946 patch.
The commemorative helmet design will incorporate multiple eras for the franchise and feature their regular orange base shell with a single white stripe, the player’s number in brown on the sides and a gray facemask.
“The Browns are one of those iconic franchises in all of sports, not just the NFL,” Haslam Sports Group president and Browns partner J.W. Johnson said. “We really wanted to give a nice nod to the past and the players that have paved the way for the team we have here today. It's just a nice thank you to them for everything they've done for this league and for this team and for this city. We wouldn't be here without the likes of Jim Brown, Otto Graham, Lou Groza and Joe Thomas. We want to honor them. We want to respect them.”
Cleveland’s helmets featured the single white stripe from 1952-59, which included two NFL championship seasons. Brown numerals adorned the helmet from 1957-60 as well as during the mid-2000s as part of an alternate uniform. The gray facemask was worn from 1961-74 and 2006-14.
To compliment the uniform, they will wear their current white pants and white socks featuring three brown stripes and two orange stripes.
“We spent a lot of time going back and looking at old photos and the history of the team and working with our friends at Nike and the NFL to put this all together,” Johnson said. “At the end of the day, like we said when we went back to the uniforms we are currently wearing, we wanted something clean, iconic, traditional and something that would honor the team and represent it appropriately.”
The team has also created digital trading cards of several players in the 75th anniversary uniforms, which are available to fans through the Browns mobile app.
The team plans to announce when they will wear the special commemorative threads this season at a later date.
As part of the launch this weekend, the Browns are offering registered Browns mobile app users an in depth look at the commemorative threads as well as access to the special 1946 collection and other commemorative items for sale.
Registered app users who visit the Pro Shop at FirstEnergy Stadium this weekend will also be eligible to receive one of two exclusive posters when buying one or more items from the 1946 collection, while supplies last. Fans who make a purchase at the Pro Shop will also get an opportunity to take a photo from the lower bowl with the specially painted field honoring the 75th anniversary serving as a backdrop.

The panthers blue jersey is awesome. Reddit is useless. Clearly our "worst" uni is the all white.
