Love how they don't mention that carter fumbled the ball and lost it.

It looks like the Jets backfield is going to suck again either way. They might have Shanny's offense but they cant run the ball for shit.

Douglas and Saleh need to be on the hot seat this season, especially with Payton and Gruden sitting on the sidelines (I would hate for Gruden to be the Jets coach, but he'll probably get offers from head coach-needy teams at the end of the season when the owners believe he's done his penance). This is just unacceptable.

Despite a couple costly mistakes, there is still upside with this D.

Flacco at QB however....

How did the make shift oline hold up? Was it all the QBs fault or was he getting harassed all day?

Not great. But still sadly better than some other years. Fant was crushed today. Flacco just seem to hold the ball way too long on a lot of occasions so bit of column A and a bit of column B.

Saleh buckling under pressure? Talk about keeping receipts and shoving them down peoples throats once the Jets are good.

Seems a terrible idea in the NY market with the teams injuries and schedule. Could backfire spectacularly saying something like that. The media will keep that receipt and shove it down your throat also if the team is 1-7 or something like that.

Saw one Jets fans say his new mantra should be All Words No Results instead of All Gas No Brake :tearsofjoy:

Saleh is another example of a career assistant coach/coordinator being promoted beyond his capabilities. Needs to go. There's nothing in the past 2 and a bit years which suggests he'll ever be a successful head coach, at least with the Jets. Douglas hasn't given him a lot to work with over his career, it's true, but Saleh needs to be able to coach up the players - especially on defence, which is his bread and butter - and he has demonstrated consistently that this is beyond him.

Johnson needs to stop hiring first time head coaches and cheap retreads, and he needs to open up the cheque book for Payton. The Jets need a true culture changer like Parcells was for them back in the late 90s (though arguably, Parcells' non-commitment to Peyton Manning when he was thinking of coming out when the Jets held the first overall pick was a culture changer too).

Flacco is a statue. Has zero mobility. The Ravens were able to pin back their ears and rush him with impunity because even blind Freddie could see that Flacco wasn't going to dodge the pass-rushers. It's another example of Douglas' mismanagement of the roster where he puts a washed up clipboard holder as the back-up to a young QB who (while he isn't Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen) does have some moves on the ground and that's forgetting the fact that DOUGLAS WENT OUT AND TRADED A PICK FOR HIM MID-SEASON TO THE EAGLES BECAUSE HE'S INEPT AT HIS JOB.

Tell Sean Payton to write his own cheque, Jets fans need some sort of offense, its been far too long since the team played some exciting football.

If youre not going to win the least you can do is put up a score.

White looked good in the Bengals game and early in the Colts game, far better than Flacco has in years. This is just the Jets playing chicken shit football, going with a vet to try and keep the losses closer than putting a kid out there who makes a few more mistakes.

Records of Jets GMs going back to Tannenbaum:

GMTenureWinsLossesPlayoffs
Mike Tannenbaum2006-201257554-3 (best effort - two AFC championship games in 2010 and 2011)
John Idzik Jr2013-20141220Nil
Mike Maccagnan2015-20193149Nil
Joe Douglas2020-present628Nil

The Jets' record under Douglas and Gase/Saleh is worse than it was under Maccagnan and Bowles and Idzik and Ryan, and yet they seem to be immune to criticism, whereas Maccagnan especially (and rightly so - he was a horrible GM) and Idzik copped it almost as soon as they walked in the door.

It baffles me.

White was fluky against the Bengals and against the Colts until he got injured. He's not a very good QB. Ironically, I think the best backup that Douglas signed was Josh Johnson, who threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns against the Colts in relief of White (although he was picked off on the Jets' last drive in that game).

Flukey maybe, but he still put up over 400 yards and 3 TDs on the road vs a superbowl team from last year. Surely that entitles him to be given a go over Joe Flacco.

Saleh left the door open for the possibility that a different QB might start against the Browns next weekend, but I think that he'll convince himself that Flacco gives the Jets the best chance of winning by the time the weekend comes.

I think Douglas has drafted pretty well honestly, just seems to me the coaching staff dont have a clue how to get the best out of the players.

Douglas in free agency has been very poor however.

I think Douglas' drafting record is mediocre.

The 2020 draft in particular is a dumpster fire. Zuniga, Perine, Morgan and Clark are already off the roster. Mims is buried on the depth chart. Becton had a decent rookie season but has been injured since and there have been question marks about his work ethic in rehabbing from his original injury (and what stings is that Tristan Wirfs went a few picks later to the Buccaneers and has played 34 games with a Pro Bowl and a first team All Pro selection to his name already). Ashtyn Davis is barely clinging on to a roster spot and looks completely lost every time he plays safety in the NFL. Mann is good for a shanked punt at least once a game that puts the defence on the back foot from the get go. Bryce Hall was good for a fifth round cornerback last season, but has regressed badly so far this season.

The jury is clearly out on whether Zach Wilson is worthy of his draft spot. He was dreadful last season before he got injured, and then was improved when he returned to the field in the back half of last season. Elijah Moore was pretty good before injury, and Carter (the RB) showed flashes but has been immediately replaced 12 months later by Breece Hall. Vera-Tucker has been good for the Jets as the left guard, though the Jets did cough up a fair amount of draft capital to trade up to take him.

We're only one game into the rookie season for the 2022 draftees, so I'll reserve judgement on those players for at least the season.

I think Douglas' best attribute is his ability to trade players away and get draft capital for them. There's no way the Seahawks would hand over two first round draft picks for Jamal Adams, if they had their time over, and getting a draft pick for Chris Herndon from the Vikings was daylight robbery. No GM is perfect with every pick, but I do think his track record overall is poor and the roster construction reflects this.

Yeah his first draft was utter shite on second looks. I still reckon this years could be very good with the right coaching staff.

I take it all back. Flacco you God among men.

Terrific catch from Garrett Wilson to secure the win, especially after dropping one earlier in the game.

Win expectancy graph is a roller coaster.
