I agree he is the GOAT but not sure what he did in establishing State of Origin. I am from Perth and Leon Larkin from the Subiaco FC was the man who pushed and negotiated with the VFL for 2 years to establish it.

He was instrumental in getting the Vics on board, basically. Teddy Whitten was too. For sure though, the concept came from WA and Larkin deserves more credit than anyone.

RDB was even more forward thinking than that though, he was making calls for a fully national competition in the 70s, saying that the top WA and SA clubs deserve to be in it and that it would massively grow the game.

Can’t see St Kilda winning a flag under Ross reign and he will be there for at least the end of the decade, then their next rebuild will occur.

North are a basket case. Until they have the right leaders at the club they will continue to go nowhere. And even then, it’s a 7-10 year of effect before the off field vision translates to on field results. That’s if the people they have on deck are the right ones and the plan is solid. And they are still making their own calls, not the AFL. 2035 at minimum.

Essendon look to finally have their shit together. When they can get Sheedy out the door the on field team might finally feel like they have the stability and support to make their way forward. Still a way to go with the playing group but tracking in the right direction.

Melbourne and Carlton look ready to contend now. Melbourne are seasoned and are 1-2 years away from dropping off completely so another flag before end of 2027 would be an optimal result. Otherwise they fade back down the pack. Carlton have a four year window to do the same. Their guns are primed now and supporters should be confident they will be right up there challenging for the flag and nab at least one in that time.
