Carlton and St. Kilda are the top of this poll from last year. A year is a long time in footy. Melbourne sits atop this one with little concern for the other clubs.
I loved the media hype surrounding those 2 club at the start of the season lol

Melbourne has all the tools to win this year. Hope they haven’t peaked too early.
I reckon they need to strike in the next 2 years otherwise they will fall back down quickly

their spine of brown, McDonald, gawn and May are all 29 and over by years end

saints list lacks quality and they’ve tried to short cut it by paying overs for players. they are in no mans land and the furthest away from a premiership.

Out of Adelaide, Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Geelong, Gold Coast, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North, Port, Richmond, St Kilda, Sydney, West Coast and the Dogs who will be the next to win a flag (teams who don't have purple)?
Red and blue makes?

Dees in the same catagory as saint kildas, north, essendons and carlton lol we're way better than those campaigners.
IMO our list is comfortably the best out of all the teams listed
Genuinely surprised how little people know about footy around here.
Except me. I’m not stupid.

Don’t think 29 is as old as you think it is. Sports stars of all sports seem to be playing well a lot older these days with the right preparation.

But looking through the AFL, Todd Goldstein is still one of the top ruckman at 33. Aaron Sandilands also won his 4th All Australian at 31 and had his 2nd best Brownlow year the following year at 32 while also picking up his 2nd Fremantle best and fairest award. Injuries got the better of him after that. I don’t see why Gawn (currently 29) can’t still be one of the top ruckman over the next 4 years.

Brian Lake Debuted for Hawthorn round 5 2013 at age 31 and 60 days, walked away with 3 premiership medals and a Norm Smith. May at 29 I think still has a few good years left.

Ben Brown is 28, had 3 x 60 goal seasons prior to his injury rattled season last year, 2nd most amount of goals kicked in the league the previous 4 years, but looks like he’s getting back to his best lately, just have to look at Tom Hawkins 33 or Jack Riewoldt 32 who both just posted 50 goal seasons, I can see Brown being an important player for another 4-5 years.

Regardless, Petty at 21 has had a break out year and will likely keep improving to become Melbourne’s number 1 key defender in the future, Luke Jackson still 19 looks a future star ruckman of the competition, I think Melbourne have a couple of long term players for those positions already.

I hope for Ronald Dale Barrassi's sake this is so.

It would be nice to see the club where he started salute arguably the most influential figure in Australian Rules Football since the end of WW II.

Don't even think there's an argument that RDB is the AFL GOAT.

Most premierships (6 as player, 4 as coach) across three clubs (Melbourne, North, Carlton) and also much loved by Sydney supporters
Invented ruck rover position
Key figure in establishing State of Origin
Father/Son rule invented because of him
Invented the "Irish Experiement" with quite frankly ludicrous results
Bashed some wife beating scumbag in St Kilda when he was 80 years old

Nobody has impacted the game more. He's not the best player of all time, but he is the greatest individual to ever be involved with the game.

I agree he is the GOAT but not sure what he did in establishing State of Origin. I am from Perth and Leon Larkin from the Subiaco FC was the man who pushed and negotiated with the VFL for 2 years to establish it.
