T Cloke trained with Hurstbridge last night. Forgone conclusion he will be playing there next year, just up to him how many games he plays. Dare say if he plays every home game or even half of that they will be extremity difficult to beat. Nice work Bridges, looked like they adjusted well last year already with some scalps even if Travis plays a few games they are setting themselves up nicely.
He did the training for the coach

Salary cap is the biggest load of garbage, too hard to police and the league doesn’t have the resources. Trav will be mowing the presidents lawn every fortnight for 6k
Maybe a bloke who was getting paid extremely well over a 12 year career in the top flight might be less inclined to be playing for $ and more inclined to play at a club nearby his home, with his brother, for a bit of a kick and to have fun? Just speculating unlike other ex-AFL players who go back to local to maximise their earning potential until they can't play anymore (e.g his brothers) Trav could be playing for a bit of fun, rather than the cash.

I think Travis is pretty well set up and played for minimal chips at the dogs last year and got a settlement to retire. Money won't be the reason he plays.

Even if T.Cloke is getting paid handsomely lets not forget Hurstbridge were paying the Division 2 salary cap no less than 18 months ago and have retained majority of that premiership list - many of whom are Hurstbridge juniors who you'd assume wouldn't be on massive money, or had their PP increased significantly from two season ago. Would've taken something seriously drastic to have them anywhere near the salary cap in my opinion.

As a couple have already said, I don't think Cloke will be playing for the money, anyway.

I'm not sure how the points would fit in but could there be a potential Travis Cameron and Jason appearance? Now that's the stand alone game te NFL should be having not Macleod smashing North

Travis Cloke will kick goals from full back down at Hurstbridge. If he was any closer to goal, chances are he would miss

Also heard RE Fennell to Greensborough that there is a legitimate family connection - wasn't told if that was the main reason or not, and that he doesn't want to and won't play under Haynes at Mont
Grandfather played there, have it on good mail he wont be anywhere but Borough this year

The AFL has announced the participation figure for 2017 sits at 1,547,915. Women playing the game now make up 30% of the total.
With Womens Footy numbers expected to only increase year after year, has the AFL/NFL/Council had a think about how this is going to impact local grounds a. Availability b. Durability and c. Infrastructure ??
It feels like a bit of an elephant in the room getting brushed aside with nice numbers. A few grounds this season clearly didn't cope with the increase in numbers.
Anyone have an idea how this is going to be combated?

Massive issue and I agree they know about it, they say they are looking into what they can do, and we all know they will be to late or do nothing.

I have not seen it but heard that one of South Morangs grounds (Mill Park Lakes) is totally artificial. I had a friend play cricket on it he said it was very long not like anything he'd seen before. I reckon its a tester, if no real injuries or complaints then watch secondary grounds all become this all weather artificial turf.

I also think that we will see a few more night/evening games. If Clubs have appropriate lights why not use them (although all this does is create more traffic so grounds will be ruined)

I think we need more training grounds, I know say Eltham High School has a massive oval that is used for nothing. A bit of work and it would be a perfect training ground that keeps people off playing grounds during wet weeks. I am sure around the 'burbs there is similar schools or areas that with some $$ would assist in the large traffic.

It will be interesting to see what the smart people in control come up with but with awesome participation numbers you don't want to lose them because they cannot train or play due to not enough grounds. The councils need to be 100% behind it but the AFL is a very wealthy business. They should tighten the GWS/Gold Coast "we are investing in the future" purse strings and actually invest in the future.

The grounds are great to bounce on due to the rubber used on the surface. Its very heavy on legs. The burns you get from it are terrible like carpet burns.

Agree smart clubs who seek to improve facilities on the back of womens/girls footy will be big winners as most change rooms especially the older ones are designed for men. The cost of unisex toilets / change rooms will cost councils big coin. I read somewhere Eltham High will be turned into a ground for juniors and a training facility. I think most of the money for Eltham High will be received is from the state government. Denny you are correct more grounds are needed, I wonder if the famous 'don't touch me Lower Eltham ground' would be released for female football?

Lower Eltham is a Lacrosse ground.....and home to the best Cricket Side in the DVCA....:):)

Clark, Corr, Langford, Lynch likely outs for Macleod will leave a bit of a gap for the roos.

Just a little bit of experience there.....Lynchy will play most games. Working on a few recruits. Plenty of Juniors coming through too and it eventually has to happen with the current generation. We will be fine
