Confirmed Trevor Little has walked. Disaster for Hurstbridge.

Plenty of time for the Clokes to get clearances elsewhere before June 30 deadline.
Can't read behind the HS paywall (ridiculous that the local footy yarns now have to be read at a cost).. Can only read "HURSTBRIDGE coach Trevor Little has cited “off-field things” as the reason behind his shock decision to quit the club"

What happened?

Agreed paying for local footy reads is absolutely ridiculous!
Might be a bit late to the party here, but just figured out if you copy the URL of the article, open "new incognito window" and paste the URL in there you can read beyond the paywall.

From the article from Tim Michell

HURSTBRIDGE says it has been “rocked” by coach Trevor Little’s resignation as it weighs up whether to promote one of its assistants to replace him. Little cited “off-field things” as the reason behind his decision to quit the club, confirming he had parted ways with the Bridges on Monday. Little, who was appointed by the Bridges in October, 2016, after the club’s Northern Football League Division 2 premiership, stepped down on Sunday. Hurstbridge president Stephen East said the club had been “blindsided” and was “shell-shocked” by the sudden departure.

“Whatever term you want to use, it’s rocked the club,” East said.

Little denied the weekend’s 44-point defeat to Northcote Park, which left the eighth-placed club 2-5 after seven rounds, had been a factor in his call.

“It’s the furthest thing from the truth. I know people will think that and I can’t stop that,” Little said.

“But it’s not the case.”

Speculation was rife at the weekend Little had departed Ben Frilay Oval.

“It’s never been about the playing group,” Little said.

“I think we have got a really good group there that are going to take the club hopefully to bigger and better places.

“I believe in the players, I think they are a great group and I have got a lot of respect for them.

“They deserve better outcomes, but right now I can’t coach that group due to off-field things.”

Asked whether he could elaborate on the issues which had forced his resignation, he said: “No one is going to be a winner from that”. East said he had been unaware there were issues between Little and the club and had remained hopeful he would reconsider his decision as recently as Sunday night.

“We have certainly been open and backed Trevor 100 per cent all the way,” he said.

“It’s a little bit disappointing to hear that. If that’s the case we’ll address those, whatever they may be.”

Hurstbridge was widely tipped to rise into premiership contention this year after the off-season recruitment of former AFL brothers Travis and Cameron Cloke, Montmorency on-baller Daniel Keenan and star midfielder Ryan Jackson. But it has endured a testing opening two months of the campaign, dealt heavy defeats by West Preston-Lakeside (78 points), Macleod (63) and Northcote Park (44) and claiming wins over Heidelberg and Whittlesea. Little said he had a burning desire to continue coaching but was disappointed it would not be at the Bridges.

Believed that Con Borg will be taking over, not sure how somebody that couldn’t get much out of St Mary’s will be able hold his own in division one? Also doesn’t Trevor Little have something to do with Hurstbridges major sponsor Ifinancial? Could they possibly withdraw too?
Manzoney or Dyson previous coaches any chance to come back. Who are there current assistant coaches?

Are you suggesting they didn't look any good against Bundoora? Given it was a 2 goal loss I can't imagine we looked horrendous, although I wasn't there.

So far we have beaten the team on top and were 5 goals up on both the 2nd & 3rd placed teams and just beat 5th.

As the primary aim is to remain in Division 1 next year, I think we are going pretty well but there is a long way to go, and no one is getting ahead of themselves.
I would suggest they didnt look any good against Bundoora. As you said, you wernt there and are obviously going by the 13 point margin. Bundooras 13 more shots at goal is probably a better stat to look at.

Having a bad day are we big fella?

I will accept we didn't look any good on your say so, but counter with maybe Bundoora played out of their skins given we sit above the on the ladder ;)

Either way, if you had of told me of said at the start of the year we would be sitting above Bundoora after Rd 7 I would have said you were crazy.

No dont have bad days. Just think it might be best going to watch a game than using maybes and looking at the score cards.

Have heard from several players at hurstbridge about a month ago that there was alot of unhappy players, mainly due to the coach.

The article doesn't really give much detail but looks like he has deserted the club but players probably aren't too upset I'd reckon.

Heard the same. Also hearing Little may not be the only one walking. Maybe some big names to follow. Time will tell

Heard on the grape vine that both clokes may be out the door too after a meeting didn’t go down too well at the club

If true, this does not surprise me and probably not a bad thing to let them walk. Hurstbridge seem to go alright when 1 or both Clokes are not playing

Clearance in for Murry football league
Cam gone, Travis wouldn't be too far behind. What a mess.
Hearing that there are too many Cheifs, a select few from the committee always airing their concerns about the football department, from spending, to selection and everything in between which made the situation impossible for the coach to continue

This may have been explained already, but why do North Heidelberg get 50 points and everyone else gets 47? I see they have picked up another 5 pointer. So someone worth more then 1 point has to be dropped just so they are 50/50 points

on the website it sais you have had 50 points every game this year. . If you do get 47 and were on the maximum last week, how do you fit Hunt in who is a 5 pointer without dropping another 5 pointer?

You need to do your homework and work on your math prior to posting because you are way off the mark. 47 every week and the 23rd man is not included in the points system. Selection headaches are a good sign of a club on the up even if it is point related.

Hunt played last week so not quite sure what’s the issue? I’m sure fridge would welcome you down to selection given you have an extreme interest in trying to undermine those at Shelley Reserve of late?

You would think we were on top undefeated and paying out bundles of cash, neither of which are true.

Hats off to the current committee for turning the place around, getting us back into Div 1, and being able to attract some quality footballers.

It is getting harder and harder every year in local footy and for me the points system only adds to the burden.

At North, I see blokes under the age of 23 missing out on a game at times because they grew up playing junior footy elsewhere essentially.

The system needs to be looked at and all clubs consulted on what they want to see. At the end of the day it is the player & clubs that make up the league, not the league officials.
