I'm sick to death of coming on here and seeing this topic being turned into a potting Watsonia fest. But after yesterday and seeing the treatment of players. I cannot stick up for the worst club in the NFL anymore..

I'm sure one day the club will have their day, hopefully sooner rather than later. That's what we're going through at the moment, yeah, we were in Division 2 last season but I'd rather the team win than lose no matter what division the club is in.

Hopefully you blokes pick a coach who has the right mindset - one who can manage a mix of getting the youth to get experience and getting the senior players to become very good leaders. If the footy department is ambitious enough they can get some players who can assist the club in climbing a few rungs up the ladder. As FairDinkum said the only way is up from here on in.

3 goals stude. Past his prime. Young Tim Anderson kicked 13 goals 1 behind in the magoos, equaling Tom's record at the club, so tommy didnt have a flash game. lol

I thought Timmy kicked 12?

Yeah Tommy kicked a few in the second half, started clunking a couple, took an excellent mark against three in the goal square.

Mernda to beat Pantin Hill comfortably, did not see last weeks game, but looks like once again bad kicking nearly gave Parkside the confidence to beat the Demons , 2nd half looked like the Demin machine got into top gear.

Resa to easily defeat Watsonia

Parkside at home will just go down to St Marys

It's pretty poor at times, on and off the field. Won't be long before the rare few who have stuck with the club through thick and thin chuck it in IMO.

Okay, the Olympics have officially started so now to get back to teh real games !

Watsonia vs Reservoir - Been plenty of angst coming from the Saints members at the former council tip and the Mustangs will give them more grief in this one.
Mernda vs Panton Hill - The grand final preview with both the Demons and Redbacks keen to gain an advantage before the finals. Should be a cracker of a game and with The Doc back from his English sojourn steering the ship think the visitors can win.
Parkside vs St Marys - If the Devils still harbour thoughts of finals then they must beat the Sainters from lower Burra-land here.
West Heidekberg - Bye.

Watched the top of the Table clash today!

First Half was low scoring,Second Half was a bog Panton Hills Forward line is just too strong for Mernda's inexperienced backline!...Will be hard to stop come finals!

Panton Hill will win Division 3 this year...Rain,Hail,or Shine!...or mud!
Mernda have dropped off last few weeks,Possibly due to injuries but i was told that they fielded there strongest side this week...

Im thinking Panton Hill vs Reservoir for the grand Final?

The backline is one area I'm quite concerned about... we are pretty small down there too.

Not quite our strongest side, I think Robbo would be in our strongest side too. I was surprised Timmy Anderson didn't come in today after kicking a bag last week, Jase Faralla who's been playing some good football was suspended today which didn't help. What frightened me was what the PH umpire escort said at around three quarter time (remember we were already five goals down) - he said that apparently there are six of their better blokes yet to come back. They convincingly beat us today and they've still got a third of their best team yet to come back? Ouch.

We're not out of it... yet. If we don't beat St Mary's in two weeks time I will be very, VERY concerned. However it does look like we will get a reserves flag if we keep up our standard of football - we just don't look like being beaten but then again, neither did Diamond Creek in 2010...

Yeah... nah. Reservoir are a good team, no doubt about that. But when they played Panton Hill they should really have been out of the game when Panton Hill kicked something like 2.10 in a quarter, and had we kicked straight a couple of weeks back the result for them might have been a little different. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Still think we will make the Grand Final. Winning it? Remains to be seen. Panton Hill are an excellent outfit.

Too Me looks like Panton Hill are 5 goals better than Mernda even in perfect conditions

- Tall strong Backline
- Experienced on-ballers
- mostly accurate Forward line

I dont think Mernda will get over them again this season...they have run there race. They are far too small and young and there skills are average!

What are you talking about "old legs" Hurricane ?? Playing for the Hills on Saturday there was a just turned 19 year old, a just turned 20 year old, a 20 year old turning 21 in November, a 22 year old to turn 23 in two days, a 23 year old, two 24 year olds and a 26 year old ... that's about a third of the team amongst the so-called "old legs" who clearly have few peers.
A good mix of experience and fast running youth I reckon !
Fingers crossed this is the combination needed !

It also means two thirds of the team are getting on in age. Some of the older blokes are carrying a few extra kilos, and will pay heavily for that at the seasons end.

Well yes, there is an overweight one but, on several occasions, he out marked (and outslide I might add too !) the Mernda defenders as well as goal with a heavy sucker footy lifting his boots through the slush and mud !
Mernda wasn't "light on" for food addicts either you know !
PH Full forward old and overweight ? ... Still hits a pack faster than anyone seen this year ... the blokes in the scoreboards around the comp have contacted office works and ordered a pallet load of pens to mark the scorecards over the next three games !
Real test comes again with Mernda in the finals ... What a cracker it'll be !

Couldn't agree more tasman.....

Plenty of G/F's have been won from teams outside the top two......

Let your players know they don't have to apologise for the state of the Mernda ground as they were after the game on Saturday. As bad as it was both teams had to play on it. Where are you blokes going to train????

Hurricane, geez bit harsh with the extra kilos dig at the Redbacks...... Remember some bloke in a very tight fitting Mernda jumper ploughing through the mud..... Don't think he even touched the ball..... End of the day we are all in div 3 and won't all be of AFL condition....

It's not NFL standard as we found out a couple of years back. I can see where the apologetic feeling comes from but at the end of the day both teams have to play to the conditions which Panton Hill were better at and exactly why they won - they played the conditions very well and we were pretty wasteful with it. I was umpire escort too so it was a nightmare navigating the ground every quarter, especially when it poured down at three quarter time.

I think we would train at Laurimar. Thank goodness we don't have to play another game there for the rest of the season - time to give it a break, time to get the ground into good condition instead of the shocker that we had to deal with on Saturday.

Proud of the boys on Saturday. Really fought hard all day in trying conditions.

Would just like to give a special mention to the Ressa player who knocked our kid out behind play. Had to be stretchered off the ground. A really dirty dog act and you were twice the size of him.

last 3 games of the year, anything surprising going to happen in final 3 games we think? any suggestions on who may win league best and fairest in both 1s and 2s?

West Heidelberg vs Reservoir - Although mathamatically possible don't think the Mustangs can grab that second spot so probably will be content with a solid hit-out against a Hawks outfit that again finds themselves at the depts of the competition ladder.
Parkside vs Watsonia - The Devils are smelling that last finals spot and need a big win here to advance their cause and should do so over the disorganised Saints.
St Marys vs Panton Hill - A crucial game for both as a win by the Redbacks will all but sew up the minor premiership and the Saints from lower burra need to keep winning to hold on to that fourth final spot. The experience of the Redbacks should get the win.
Mernda - Bye.
