Hurstbridge with another recruit. Points may be an issue but do they finish above boro?
Huge points issues

McColl - 3
Moshetti - 5
Obrien - 4-5?
Mccabe- 4
Wild - 4
M.Wild - 5
Kirley - 3
Beven - 3
Richards - 3
Plain - 3
Agosta - 3-5?
Indian - 4
Harrison - 3

Won’t all play each week as some vfl etc, not sure if they landed on lists.. but yep

Played on 40+ last season

Any player in NFNL would jump at the chance to play for Preston and Preston’s fan base is quite large come down on a sat/sun you will be quite surprised.

Couldnt disagree more.

  • Get pumped every week, they legitimately wont win a game this season. Best players from last season have left.
  • Play for far less money than what would be offered by local clubs, of which you likely have an allegiance to
  • Higher committment in terms of time
  • Travel in some situations, meaning time off work

Their fan base isnt any higher than that of a Heidelberg, Bundoora, Greensborough, Montmorency, Eltham.

The VFL is beyond cooked. Its not like you are increasing your chances of getting drafted anymore.

I have mate yes, not for a long time though unfortunately.

Hopefully Brodie Holland can get the boys up and going this year :thumbsu:
Was not having a pot shot at you just saying it’s the nature of the beast that you want to play against the best in the best league, yes Preston are struggling on the field atm but there still playing against afl standard footballers

Understand what you are saying but at the moment it simply isnt a level playing field. The VFL needs to be completely changed.

There was a game last year where the Bullants didnt score a goal.

If it reverted back to an old VFA type arrangement, it would be far easier to recruit players, as its a level playing field.

Have you?
I know a couple of players that have turned down playing at Preston to keep playing local. VFL isn't what it used to be
You are required to fly interstate so it’s not for everyone . Not to mention if you have no ambition to play AFL or play as high of a standard as possible you aren’t going to play with the training requirements.

But there are still plenty of kids who are keen. Preston will take a while to get going. The best players go to the best clubs where they have a better chance to get drafted.

There are some terrific players at Coburg as well. The level is strong, in standalone measures. The list there looks young as well however to play VFL the commitment needs to be strong. Generally, playing at a stand alone like Preston orvCoburg is about playing at the highest level you can against high level and AFL listed opposition. Match Results are not the measure,

The VFL will evolve and change going forward for sure, dollars will dictate that. There doesn’t an appetite for an AFL seconds but a VFL seconds with only aligned clubs would fill a void if standalone disappeared. Cu recently at VFL aligned clubs, most spots each week are filled by AFL listed players….so you end up with a lot of VFL listed players playing local leagues….this is where the standalone provide something to have mo re players playing VFL footy each weekend.

Early stab in the dark

Heidelberg
Bundoora

Mont
Greensborough
HIRSTY

North
WPL
Banyule
Whittlesea
Macleod
Did you have a few drinks when putting this together,?
Hurstbridge 5th is pretty funny. North are miles ahead of them. West will still be a good team. Macleod last? Whittlesea are about $1.01 to get relegated.

Hurstbridge have recruited very very well. If their VFL players play they’ll be decent.

But yes Whittlsea will be lucky to win a single game

They have not recruited very well. Theyve picked up a few VFL players that might play. How is that going to help them? They've lost a few. Please don't mention the Wilds in there recruits. They are ordinary

Add another 4 pointer Fitzgerald from Whittlsea

Top four is pretty clear cut I would imagine, with Heidelberg, Bundoora, Montmorency and North Heidelberg (order might vary)

Fifth place is where it gets interesting. Any of West Preston, Macleod or Banyule could squeeze in for mine. West probably slight favourites.

North seem to have lost some core players in Bailey, Braendler, McKay, McGhie & Mapleson. They will get more from Majak & Liam Hunt, how many games does boomer play? Are they in a better position for depth than 2022?

Anyone seen the video of a Whittleseas under 17s dad ranting about having his sons clearance denied because he hadn’t returned his jumper.

Some pretty strong words about the club
