Just watched Jake Brown get run down from behind and knocked out.

I would never ask for a player to be rubbed out for it but by the letter of the law should that bloke been reported?

Q2 6.50m
Yeah totally agree Rough conduct with how the umpires have been as his head hit the ground. vBut youd be disappointed to be rubbed out for that with a good hard run down to turn the ball over.

Don’t get me wrong you would be ropable.

One has been knocked out and went to hospital = 0 weeks

One has won an academy award = 4 weeks.

Whittlesea player got a week for a tackle with unfortunate outcome, 20 similar tackles in every game. It's a shame he hit his head, hopefully Brown is back for week 1 of finals and carry's no long-term repercussions from it.

Forget the academy award, if Hogan stands the mark instead of trying to act tough after getting a free kick against him there is no report.

We do agree it's not worth 4 weeks, 1 for being stupid seems about right to me.

The division 2 result is a disgrace, weak act and not a footy action. Can't as a competition in good faith promote a Coward punch round each year and then not give that incident 8-10 weeks at a minimum.

Agreed. Just dumb by Billy in a nothing match. It’s not great vision, but any kind of head butting on a footy field is not on and is always frowned upon and assessed very seriously. 3-4 is reasonable.

Round 18 tips

Heldelberg (1st) vs Banyule (8th) Heidelberg go from strength to strength with a 121 point win over West Preston last week. Jorgensen had his best goal haul for the year with 5 and Barzen kicked 4. They will be without Gilmore this week. For Banyule, the pushed Monty for 4 quarters and get Viv Blackmore-Moore back this week. The bears have had a good first year in division 1 footy and will be up for the challenge but Heidelberg too strong. Tigers by 32 points

Hurstbridge (5th) Vs Macleod (7th) The bridges won the mini elimination final last week to jump over Greensborough and into 5th spot. They now control their own destiny and Macleod would love to play the spoiler. It’s been a tough few weeks for Macleod but they do get Hurley, White, Brandt and Leggett back this week. Macleod will push all the way but Hurstbridge to get the 4 points and play in their first Division 1 finals series. Hurstbridge by 17 points

Greensborough (6th) vs Whittlesea (10th) The Boro failed last week to lock up a finals spot and now rely on Macleod beating Hursty and they beat Whittlesea to make finals. They get Trudgeon back while for the Eagles Murphy returns. Can the Eagles break through for win #1 against what might be a flat Greensborough or will the boro come out and get the 4 points to keep their very slim finals chances alive. Greensborough by 21 points

Montmorency (2nd) vs Nth Heidelberg (4th) Mont we’re pushed by Banyule last week and are missing Fitzgerald and Honeychurch this week in what is a dead game for them. For the doggies though they need the 4 points and hope a West Preston upset over Bundoora can get them back into the double chance. Baddeley-Kelly, Brown, Hogan and McDonald are all big outs for the Doggies and at home Mont will be too strong. Mont by 27 points

Bundoora (3rd) vs West Preston (9th) The bulls are running into some good form and have Fitzgerald, Jorgensen, Sturgess and Younan back into their side this week. They do lose the twin towers of McEvoy and McKernan though. For West, it has been a disappointing year and I can’t see it finishing off well here against Bundoora. The bulls easily by 82 points

Enjoy the footy

Hate be be at the selection table for Bundoora next week.
They are 44/46 without Mcevoy and Mckernan who are 11 points combined.
Going to have to drop 2-3 of there better players to get them in.
Not sure how they can beat Heidelberg, when they can't field there best team

Can't field their best team. You know how the points system works, why recruit so many high point players!!!

Nev Jetta might be another one with large points to add to the squeeze should Collingwood VFL's season come to an end this weekend or next

Heidelberg’s form is ominous. Statistically their h&a season is very similar to Greensborough in 2019. What is the record for lowest points against after 18 games?

It’s easily the best since 2011
The depth of Heidelberg is very good as well, reserves with a thumping 100+ point win over 3rd placed Banyule.
Going to have to be very good teams to stop them from doing the senior/reserves double

Pre season prediction -
Heidelberg
North Heidelberg
Bundoora
Mont
Boro
——————
Hurstbridge
West Preston
Banyule
Macleod
Whittlesea

Wasn’t terrible, Boro and Bridges swap to round out the 5. Well done to Hursty making finals.

West Preston had a horrid year and hearing a few star departures

Hearing some big big departures from Bundoora in the off-season including a few up to craigieburn and a few down the beach. Bundled with their 2s issues they need a huge off season.

Not to discredit Heidelberg, but the scoring this year has been a bit lower than average from what I've seen. I think we had a pretty shit set of weather circumstances early in the season, which has seen a few grounds (eg Heidelberg) muddy early on.

That said, their form is exceptional, the big ground at Preston can only help them, especially if it's a dry September.

They have VFL players playing 2s and 3s, so it's not just Bundoora with points issues

100% correct. Footy isn't played like it used to be. Bloody zones, presses etc. Doesn't make for as many high scoring contests.

The top 4 points against this year would probably all be the best in the last decade or 2.

How many VFL players did they have in the U19s ?
