From the horses mouth.

For example to get the footy show down at the club for promotional activities over pre-season we require NFNL approval.
What a farkin joke & no wonder senior level club administrators are leaving in big numbers.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER MEMO

TO: NFNL AFFILIATED CLUBS
CC: NFNL STAFF
FROM: MARTIN STILLMAN
SUBJECT: REVISED NFNL SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
DATE: 16 OCTOBER 2024

Dear Affiliated Clubs,
Re: NFNL Social Media Policy
Policy Overview:

➢ At the NFNL Board of Directors meeting last night, the board endorsed the attached Social
Media Policy, inclusion section 4.
All NFNL-affiliated clubs are strictly prohibited from engaging with or supporting any media
platforms, including social media forums or pages, that have not been explicitly approved by the
NFNL. This applies to all forms of media, including but not limited to:
• Print media
• Online news outlets
• Social media platforms
• Podcasts, video blogs, or any other digital communication channels
Requirement for Written Approval:
Before any club can interact with non-NFNL-endorsed media outlets, they must seek and obtain
written approval from the NFNL. This written approval must come directly from the league’s
authorized representatives to ensure that all communications align with the league's values,
messaging, and strategic objectives. Failure to do so will result in clubs being subject to disciplinary
measures.
Potential Disciplinary Actions:
Any club found to be in violation of this policy - whether by directly engaging with non-endorsed
media outlets or by indirectly supporting them - may face significant consequences. Disciplinary
actions may include, but are not limited to:
• Financial penalties
• Suspension of club activities or privileges within the league
• Formal reprimands
• Possible disqualification from league events

Should you seek any further clarification please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours Sincerely,

Martin Stillman
Chief Executive Officer
Northern Football Netball League
OK then slow deep breath and go.
This is a really disappointing development the guys and gal's at the northern footy show are genuinely trying to support and help teams/clubs/supporters in the NFNL.

So the best thing that the league can think of is sic the legal team onto them, when that had little to no effect because club/supports actually liked feeling like someone cared about more than just the bottom line the leagues only response is to basically outlaw them.

Anybody that HAD their rose coloured glasses on still and tried to beleive the league has the clubs best interests in mind surely can start to see reality.

NFNL prior, current and future policies have and always will be,
WE ARE THE BOSS just ask us
YOU WILL DO AS YOU ARE TOLD or be fined
DONT DARE MAKE US LOOK INCOMPETENT we don't the need help

END RANT sorry

Unfortunately you are 100% on the money

The NFNLare baning all VFL players from the league, unless they sign a particular release that incurs an additional fee made payable directly to the NFNL, in monthly instalments and franked quarterly, with a clause which states any player caught talking to anyone outside the NFNL about NFNL or non NFNL matters will be further sanctioned , with no avenue for appeal and all decisions of the NFNL final……

It’s what I heard anyhow….,based on recent events….

Should we not be encouraging the VFL players to play in the nfnl more often? They will simply go to another league. There are pros and cons on this. We seen many VFL players return for finals and help clubs win the flag that won't be there round 1 next season however their presence was great. What's fair?

Exactly it’s great for the league … even more so when the VFL player is a 1 pointer … playing for his junior club that assisted in their football journey from the outset . The 3 games qualifier has been a rule for years …. Not sure why all of a sudden it’s an issue . Obviously some clubs are blaming this as a reason for lack of success in 2024

It needs stricter qualify guidelines imo. Plenty of leagues have this already.

Absolutely spot on

Three games has always been the qualifier. Whether you’ve been injured, overseas or a pre 30th June recruit

Why would the rules be any different for a VFL player. Three games is three games

What's the other league's rules. You would think if it is governed by AFL Vic it should be the same? Maybe they are bringing it inline?

From an Ammo perspective.

A VFL player must play 8 games without any games being played after June 30 or play 5 games with 2 after 30 June. This shows commitment to the local competition.

Players missing GF for a VFL player who won’t be around the next year. Not great for club culture.

Outer east for example you can’t have played over 12 games

Vafa 5 games and 2 after June 30

Don't mind 'updating' a guideline to ask players to have played more games than they currently do to qualify for finals.

3 seems pretty light on to me and that a player is obviously more committed to another club/competition than they are to the NFNL or their NFNL club - no matter if an ex-junior or not.

Increasing the number buy a few games won't destroy the NFNL, if anything it may see some play more games throughout the year and not just finals. Just thoughts.
