Norman played very well.
No concerns on fitness. He hit the ground running.

Both sides will be at full strength.
I’d expect Booth, Rennie, McPherson to all come back in. Question is, who are the unlucky ones to make way for Diamo?

Both sides have a full contingent of players to select. Expect an exciting game of footy next Saturday! 25 degrees at Preston - can’t ask for a better showcase.
Rennie OP, extremely doubtful

Diamond creek looked like they had a couple of sore boys on the pine at the end. The big man wasn’t moving well and another kid looked to have hurt his knee not sure who he was. As a neutral very excited for Saturday. Any word on lowers coach or is it going to be who everyone expects ?

Can’t wait for Saturday. Seems to be all going right for Panther and a few question marks over Diamond Creek.

Eltham haven’t had the best luck on Preston so hopefully for their sake can put it behind them. Their young guns could be the difference and quite exciting to watch. Either way there is going to be a very very disappointed side come 4.45 Saturday as both sides would be well placed for D1

As for lower I’ve heard nothing. Plunkett hasn’t official gone yet either has he?

Who does everyone expect?

Do either of these teams have a future in Div 1? Eltham appear to be an aged group Of players that may experience retirement issues. Of course I could be wrong as I haven't seen much Div 2 this season. But both clubs have experienced the "up, down" scenario when joining Div 1 in the past. It would be great to see the winner, having longer term plans in place that put them in a competitive position for Round 1 and beyond in 2024.

It is mainly a question of money as we know to be competitive in DIV 1 - Good junior programs help a little but the main criteria is having the money to spend to attract quality players or you will not be able to compete with Heibelberg, Monty, Bundoora, NH.
Both Diamo & Eltham may have the money??

Diamo by 24 - best side all year and quality players coming back

Absolutely they do. Both have strong juniors and fantastic facilities . Eltham played in a D1 prelim not so long ago and spent a lot of time settled in that division.

With the right people at the helm both sides could establish themselves in D1

I dont want to sound rude, but Eltham has had the best junior program for 25 years but have NEVER been able to secure the senior club in Div 1. Going up and down divisions like a yoyo must be something they have to address. When did Eltham play in a Div 1 Prelim? Thats got to be quite a few years ago hasnt it?

A yo yo? They won the 2002 flag and spent the next 15 seasons in D1. Hardly a yo yo.

When Mario was coach, so a while ago. My point is they could win Saturday and spend the next 15 years in D1 going on past history.

Correct!
Assuming he is talking about the Bardens?
I thought someone mentioned that Darcy had signed again at Macleod. Perhaps someone can confirm. However no one that I have spoken to has mentioned him or Billy as putting their hand up or being spoken to for the job. I expect around the end of this month, something will be known.

10571z cmon on 2002 is 21 years ago since they won a flag.
All we here about are how good Eltham’s juniors are and yet they aren’t a division 1 club but they think they should be. They have had dominate 2’s sides as well but promotion isn’t won by the 2’s
If they lose on Saturday, what excuse will they have this year.
You could say that for the amount of juniors they have, the best facilities they have (self-proclaimed) they are massive underachievers in the NFNL.
Look at a club like Hurstbridge, stuff all juniors but played in division 1 finals this year.
I looked at stats last year and Eltham’s finals record is poor, massive pressure on the selected 22 to get the job down on Saturday, otherwise it’s just another wasted year in division 2

I couldn’t agree more. But the question was do either side have a future in D1 which I believe both do if run properly. They have no excuses once ip not to stay there.

10571z to be a division 1 side though they need to get out of division 2
Since 2018, Eltham have gone 51-13 in regular season but only 3-4 in finals losing 2018 grand final, 2019 prelim final and 2022 grand final, pressure is definitely on the Panthers on Saturday

It’s a Grand Final.
Both sides would be expecting to win & have put themelves in a great position to do so.

DC 17-1 nearly an unblemished season have to be considered the favourites?
Elthams Semi final though almost evens the ledger. It’s a genuine toss of the coin.

I’m just glad that both sides are going to have a full contingent of players to select from. Should make the spectacle that much better to watch. 10 goals win you the game

melancholy of course both sides would be expecting to win lol
Not a great spectacle though if 10 goals wins you the game on what looks like a perfect day for footy on Saturday

Might have to disagree here.
Some of the best GF’s I’ve ever witnessed haven’t been high scoring shootouts.

The excitement/spectacle component for me is the contest. The hard contested footy, game of territory. The chess match between both coaching boxes trying figure out how to penetrate what is clearly the best two defensive units in the comp.

The hot weather will also add another element: war of attrition.

I think all those things add up to a great spectacle. Even if it is 10 goals to 9

Who wins the chess match?

Agreed, love a low scoring game where goals are gold

Eltham look unchanged. Diamond Creek with Booth and Macpherson back from a quick glance.

Going to be hot, let’s hope the wind stays away. I think it’ll pick up a bit and make DC defensive game not so effective with transitions limited.

I said after the GF last year Eltham needed a Ruck, Inside mid and a Key Forward. They’ve ticked all those boxes. They have got their best side on the park and should be primed for this clash. McCormick, Mayley and Owen are real X-Factor and expect them to cause havoc and lead the panthers to victory.

Eltham 24 points BOG McCormick.

Both deserving winners and good people at each club 👍
