Seems Bashen has a gripe with Bongo.

I have Nothing wrong with bongo personally. He came from the club I’m affiliated with.

I didn’t start the bongo comment just added on saying that with the list he’s inherited and the year prior the panthers had being minor premiers it’s a premiership or failed year in my books.

Nothing wrong with that comment if you think there is then your reading into things far too much

Important Resignings for Watsonia getting the young Van Zwienen boys to put pen to paper,

Would’ve thought they were as good as gone from rumours.
Hopefully they can get a few outside signings in the next few weeks

Now it looks like money ball!! Good onya Panton Hill for having a crack!! Points may be an issue but the NFL should give your club an exemption with no juniors

It’s not all about juniors, it’s trying to get players to not move around as much and chase money. Should they get an exception on the cap also?

Hadn’t Bongo retired from playing and signed on as coach at EK for this year?

Sorry if going over old ground, but what’s the story there?

To be honest with the list he inherited and being minor premiers last year it’s promotion or fail in my books.

Eltham have recruited 2 from craigieburn, probably not the best side to recruit from lol…not sure if that’s the coaches doing or someone else involved at the club.

So you and Move On have chosen to cast shade on this site. I reckon you have your hands full at EK. Not sure why you'd choose to slag off at a guy who everyone at EK knows delivered a very solid season.

Don’t think he did slag off the coach just stating a fact that Eltham finished on top and whoever inherits a team like that you would expect a premiership the following year or maybe I’m 2 short of a 6 pack like most panther supporters

If you believe that you may be a couple short - I am happy to back Diamo if you want to back Eltham - Just a slab?
The side that recruits best is the logical favourite - I am more convinced than ever that money ensures success in local football, not juniors

I disagree. I believe it comes down to balance, the successful clubs have a mix of both

It would be an interesting exercise detailing the points of the premiers in Div 1 & Div 2
In the EFL & WFL league the successful sides are on the max points and buy players in rather than having good junior programs when you check the last 10 years
Who is the last Premier in the NFL that has run 60% home grown players?

Greensborough, West Preston?

Who has Eltham recruited, I’m told the new coach couldn’t bring a single person in. Not a single player followed him, pretty average.
Grand final at min or it’s a fail. 👎👎

Theres no way Eltham would be able to pay what EK pay their players, which would have a fair bit to do with it i would have thought. With a player payments bill higher than Abers and Strathmore it makes it easy for players to stay and take massive overs.

Think Eltham will be just fine in 2023. Players are loving what Bongo is bringing to the table.

Greensborough, West Preston?
West Preston definately no, not even close to 60%. Greensborough did have some juniors playing, but not 60%.

Look at the dominant teams over the past 30 years. Bundoora, Heidelberg, Northcote Park and West Preston. They are all teams that have brought players in to win them. In actual fact Bundooras last 3 premierships, they have had 2 juniors.

It's always been about recruiting and money to succeed. Macleod is the only team in Division 1 in the last 30 years to win one with the majority of juniors and they were lucky they got 1 good bunch who all played together. If you think otherwise, you are dillusional.

I think you will find that West Preston’s 2018 & 2019 premiership teams both had 14-15 out of 22 players from their junior program. They played with less points than Greensborough in 2019. I would say they would probably be in the bottom 5 spending clubs but they’ve done it beautifully and cashed in with flags when they had the opportunity.

West Preston & Greensy definitely had 60% juniors

You can win flags with plenty of home grown players as long as you recruit well in areas you lack.

Martin and Langford the difference in the GF who were both brought in to fill needs for Banyule.

Gary Moorcroft to south morang. Be interesting to see if he can still perform.
