Can't let you take all the credit, I've been saying it for Glass' entire career. He's been overrated since day dot.

Ignoring the part where from day dot onwards he was a rookie who was regularly lambasted by eagles fans for horrible decision making.

What he did was he built up his defensive work to counteract though, and built his game around that. And became an All Australian full back because of it.

The argument that an elite midfield made him look better is a load of utter shite; obviously i missed the part where a quick, fast and skilled midfield who can get the ball going into their own forward fifty improves the defensive capability of full back when the ball comes into the defensive fifty.

The days of un-skilled, heavy bodied, one dimensional defenders are dying. Glass got by in a good side, but his days of merely being able to stand and defend were limited, and his weaknesses would quickly be exposed in an average side. As has been the case.

2007: Last Line Hero warns Eagles fans that Darren Glass is overrated, and being the type of player he is would struggle in a poor side without elite midfield support. Says that selecting him as captain was a terrible decision because his career would go downhill as the Eagles did. Eagles fans can't hack that someone demeans their captain, and tell Last Line Hero he has no credibility.

2008: EAGLES 15th... Glass struggles. Eagles fans tell us he played injured, that he'll be back.

2009: EAGLES 11th... Glass struggles. People begin to wonder, if it is not physical why Darren has lost the alledged supreme defensive ability he had once displayed.

2010: EAGLES 16th... Glass struggles. Barely plays.

Now at 29. His body failing him. His short- lived prime years long gone, and a legacy as Eagles captain through their worst period in franchise history. Last Line Hero can bask in the glory of his supreme judgement when it comes to defenders. Hate to say I told you so, but...

A supreme midfield who can more often than not win the ball and get it in their own forward 50 will make a defense look good as they will have less situations where they need to defend

If a defense with a good midfield lets 10-12 goals in per game with only 25 inside 50s against well that's great (roughly 50%)

Whereas a defence with s**t mids lets 20-24 goals in per game with 50 inside 50s agains well that's s**t (roughly 50% again)

See the difference? Makes sense doesn't it?

Both defences have let 50% of their inside 50s go through for goals, but the sheer number of inside 50s let in by a s**t midfield is what is the difference

A good midfield with a good defence will likely let even less goals in making them looking even more supreme - just like a good midfield, good defence and good forward line, will score more goals from less inside 50s for and let in less goals from less iniside 50s against

Having a good midfield does not make a player defensively better. Like is aid, if you're a crap defender you're a crap defender no matter the volume of the ball coming in. I've watched Glass his entire career and the fact is he's very good one on one. As a pure defender, he has not been overrated. Obviously doesn't have the same strings to his bow as the calibre of Fletcher and Scarlett possess, but that does not make him overrated.

For what it's worth, he has been a very good contributor in a lot of games since 2007. But I'd say you wouldn't have watched much at all, and when you did, it was with biased glasses and that you're generally ignorant and full of shit.

2007 Won AA and B&F with Cousins suspended for 2/3rds of the season and Judd had the most tlked about groin in Australia, hardly an Elite midfield there, also he wasnt captain until 2008
