Nick Stevens looking to make a comeback

If fit, Stevens could be a real asset for a team like Collingwood. When up and running, he is one of the elite midfielders in the league. Heaps of experience and great foot skills. Could he do a Stuart Dew like comeback?

Watching Stewie Dew a bit too much in the free time is old Stevo. Needs something to separate him from the others, and he don't have it.

There are a few clubs out there which over the last few years (injury issues excluded) could have done much better with a player like Stevens on their list. He was an exceptional footballer who would have benefited from playing in a team that was on the verge of challenging for a flag, rather than rebuilding like the Blues were.

As fit as he might ever get, he's certainly had it. Since Dew got to a level where he could contribute consistently across the game football has gotten quicker. Stevens wouldn't be able to keep up.

But, this guy was an absolute gun. He just went to a club that was not going well at the time and rather than being the icing on the cake for a top team, he had to be a prime mover for a crap one over a number of years.

I was ment to say he was one of the elite midfielders when fit.

Even that's defintely pushing it. "Elite" is a term that should be reserved for only the top handful. He was a very good player no doubt but I'd have never called him elite.

"I'll only come back if I get picked up by a club close to a premiership". Haha. What a spud. Leaves Port to play in a "successful side", thinking he was cocky enough to pick the club of his choice, and ends up at Carlton during their dud period and Port wins a flag. So he retires - after 200+ solid games, congratulations - now announces his plans to make a comeback, but only for a top team.

Fair dinkum.

He was never "elite"

If he was, Port fans would actually know, he did play hes best footy at the club. But was no where near elite

Just couldn't see his neck going from life threatening and career ending to being able to play full contact sport again in less than a year.

Agree. I love the guy, I could even handle it if he went to another club.

If another club gave him a shot, I'd still cheer him (if I was at a neutral). If he could come back that is, that neck injury turned out to be worse than we were led on to believe.

Like I said, I hope he does, but only if he can and wont **** his body up royally.

Please don't insult Stevens by comparing him to potatoes.

The man played 231 is a two time B&F winner. Had his issues but could play and was a beautiful kick of the footy.

What club did he win Best and Fairests at?

What kind of club would just hand a bloke the captaincy before he's even played a game for them?
