Good question. Smith is the best equipped but not sure we can put him back in. Maybe Carey.
Carey has an excellent analytical brain for this sort of thing, whether or not it transfers at international level is another guess. BUT, he's the better option when you consider Smith, Warner, Usman, Marnus.

I love test cricket. Had to switch off when they had about 6 runs to go and it was finally impossible but that’s three nail biting matches in a row where one team just was a bit better for a bit longer and made better decisions at key points.
Yes, it's getting a bit tiresome the had've's and could've's and I honestly believe another 50 runs would've seen them off, but again if your au...You're a respected poster, but, yes it was a very average batting performance, again.

There wasn’t much great batting in this match but yes, really needed our experienced batsmen to get more in the second innings especially - and it was probably eventually going to happen that waiting for their batsmen to all throw their wickets away was going to fail as a strategy.

I don’t believe I’m saying this, but I’d almost go in without a specialist spinner in the next one.
Taking 20 wickets isn’t as tough as usual, and Murphy didn’t add much. Head et al can bowl if required.
The decision then is do we bring in Green or an extra bat. I’d personally drop Warner too, but he could just fluke one and be the difference.

Like to watch the Wallabies too Bertie ?
No Hoj, that game and the league version are not in my consciousness, so I wouldn't know if they were dumb or not!! Would need you to tell me! I do have my suspicions about Rugby League though. Mrs Bertie refers to it as "Thugby League." Cheers

I agree, depending on pitch cnditions

Ah heck no…. This is the most over rated, over payed, underperforming teams ever to pull on a national jumper. Absolute joke. Until they get serious and ruthless as players and an organisation they are going nowhere fast. How many coaches they have burned through and still the same rubbish. Yet they keep picking them and they perform the same spud quality. The whole darn program needs to be revamped…so sick of them accepting defeat before heading onto the park….then handshakes all round at games end…..errrrghhh.
Careful or he might go for storm too.
Nothing wrong with following the storm….good to see Will coming along nicely. We need to be in the market for another big wrecking ball of a forward….we tend to loose them to often and really haven’t replaced the Bromwich brothers..even though it was time to move them on. Quality is there still…with a few more tweaks who knows.
most likely why bellamy isn’t moving.
Yep, would be watching those and the weather very closely of course.
Weather will be interesting and l do hope they change up the batting order….
How wonderful would it be to be bowling to this mob under some of the conditions they have had…..
Have some attacking fields to back up the bowling…not just hoping for something to happen…
warner is a liability at the moment like starting with one hand behind back.
do what it takes …move people up or down the order…. heck ld even consider moving marsh up and Marnus down..
bring in Neser ( he just goes for it ) for Scotty and possibly green for Murphy….
just think of playing Mind games with these muppets..
look forward to seeing what they do.
we have an opportunity to win the darn series… l hope they reflect on this as it doesn’t come around often…

That would mean Cummins, Starc, Neser, Hazlewood, Marsh and Green. Just too many, for mine.

You can easily leave out one of Starc, Neser or Hazlewood and leave Murphy in, and still have more than enough pace.

You wouldn’t have more than three of the first four listed.

Edit: I still can’t see how Neser and Hazelwood both come in alongside Green.

I've tried to watch union. I cannot understand one single rule. Appears you can try to kill someone and receive a penalty.
Some French bloke l've seen, looks about 6'5 in the old, wild caveman hair and beard, runs like a wildebeast. I believe he's nicknamed " the anaesthtist "
He puts people to sleep ! Wild game.

Union is the only good rugby. Unfortunately the t-20 version of that sport destroyed the once great sport.

Cummins has shown he's not a very good tactical captain.
He's actually now shown that a few times. He's a great bowler, but all the experience over the years of watching test cricket and playing domestic cricket (a long time ago granted), I've never thought it was a great idea of having a fast bowler as a captain. It rarely works, maybe Imran Khan. A spin bowler, okay, but not a strike bowler. They've got too much else to think about.

It's becoming a too familiar story, but another fifty odd runs would have made a helluva difference.
