Joe Root - "Man for man I'd have this team every day over the Australians"

Remember that s**t....hope he's reminded of it for the rest of his playing career.
We lost two games compared to India’s one so no doubt they won the moral World Cup as well.

Um nah. They have all the humility and self awareness of a Carlton supporter.

Stunned by this result. The look on the faces in the crowd when Kohli chopped one back.. Like a funeral.

Beautiful stuff.

The heading for the exits as soon as the loss became inevitable was very Carlton-like.

Staggeringly good performance from Australia. Surely the Cummins-haters have lost all ammunition against him. Travis Head has to be the first batter picked in all formats - no more he can't play spin, can't play away. MOTM is the WTC Final, ODI Cup Final and the First Test of the last two Ashes series (and the first Saffer Test last summer). The Bus Change thankfully showed that there is still a place for proper batting in this format.

As for India...stuff 'em. Their Test series win here a couple of years ago was fabulous, but like Carlton they come across like graceless, self-entitled campaigners who have won SFA tournaments recently.

Yeah I reckon Kohli makes India look like complete tools, but the rest of the team don't seem to have their own heads firmly shoved up themselves. Kohli struts around glaring at opposition like he's the king of the world. Greta player, bloody ordinary bloke IMO

I think Kohli has always given the opposition their dues. He's a competitor but always seemed to respect the Australian warrior spirit and seek to match it than resort to a victim whining mentality.

Because he's brash people assume he's a bad sport.

Normally it isn't a massive headache you'd wake up with...

I’m sure the term Shinboner actually originated from a morning after a major win.

Night shift last night, stayed up all night watching then right as Head is about to make his ton…BAM! Building fire in Docklands, don’t get back to station until 5:00am 😢

In all seriouslyness though, that faux tough guy crap he put on staring at Marnus didn’t convince anyone he was actually tough. I hope Marnus gave him a reciprocal stare off as the winning runs were hit.

He is part of the new India. The team are now full of confident rock stars. No longer are they the meek, submissive nation they used to be. Ganguly, Dhoni and Shastri when he was coach started this process and it has evolved to it's current form. It annoys the **** out of opposition supporters but in reality they're not much different to the arrogant Aussie teams in the Warne, McGrath, Waugh era.

I watched us in the field, epic performance that gave us a target to go for.

Went to bed feeling we were in with a real shot, not what I was expecting pre game.

Well done to the whole team!

Funny. I reckon Kohli is one of the more likable. Fierce competitor, carries on a bit, but is respectful of the game (especially Test) and his opponents (recall him telling the Indian crowd to pull their heads in when they were giving Smith a hard time after his suspension). Most of all, he backs it up by being a bloody good player.

I'm less respectful of the white-ball IPL heroes with ordinary Test records who roll out on the field with the bling and the ego. But it's the BCCI and their flunkies who have the ICC on a string who can go eat the biggest bag of dicks as far as I'm concerned.

I think he gets on well with at least some of the Aussies, Maxwell for instance. Virat has earned the right to be cocky. He is a ham actor on his TV ads but he is one of the best batters ever and there's no need for him to hide from that.

I wonder if he pays his own restaurant bills ( Kapil Dev)....

I was listening on the wireless at the end. Is it true Kohl took his team off the field and snubbed the trophy presentation?
not surprised, they spent so long getting it orgainsed I went to bed as well. I think they had a whole bunch of stuffed planned for when India won and then had to quickly change the confetti colours etc etc.

Only a bit cringe?

It's a big field but Haydon would be up there as the worst commentator that has ever been and that includes Michael Clarke.

Australian twitter was united in It's disdain for him last night.
The worst of all time is that boring Ian Smith, former NZ keeper.
Everytime I see or hear him I want to break everything in sight, he's an annoying campaigner of a person - up there with Gus from NRL.
