Well, certainly making this an interesting one

As much as the praise for Australia's bowling is warranted, what's making it interesting is the standard of the batting. Head's been scratchy all summer, Khawaja below his best, and Smith and Labuschagne have declined quickly from what was a rapid height. Green's potential remains less than his output (only one innings but never looked comfortable) Marsh is the only one who looks in decent nick.

Aside from Warner in Perth and Marsh, no one has played a fluent, lengthy innings. The bowling, opposition fielding and two less than lethal and experienced attacks are what's keeping Australia up. The pitches have been as challenging as they should be, but far from spicy.

Add in the glaring lack of batting depth at Shield level and maybe this team isn't quite the awesome team as many think.

We'll probably go 5-0 across the Summer but it may well be a Summer of kidding ourselves.

Totally agree with your assessment.
What makes it difficult is when the chairman of selectors makes reference to playing the six best batters.
I don't know what he is basing this on could only be based on opinion not performance.

100%

Batting like this, and having to bowl in non home ground circumstances, we would be struggling big time.

An absolute disgrace this 'club ' side is here playing test cricket.
Test cricket is in trouble and bringing this First XI shitmen West Indies side over isn't improving its chances of survival.
Goodness me.

Same as sth Africa going to nz aswell. There is too much focus on t20 coz the $ isn't there for those countries. Even look at Pakistan Harris rauf chose bbl over the test team.

When you have Australia, England and India all using their power to make sure they get all the Friday nights and marquee games and the rest of the comp is relegated to 4.40 Sunday night games, I don't blame the rest of the world for chasing the money. Maybe the West Indies should have moved to the Gold Coast.
