We need a gruff grumpy SOB.

When the best coach in the land is free, you take the chance.

It's time to bring Clarkson back to his original home.
Clarkson will never coach north he has brains as he knows the boys club still run the club even tho we have a female Chairwoman she’s only the token gesture and really has no say she’s only 1 vote at board meetings

I’ve defended him (and will continue to), however there was some seriously damning footage of our defensive press on First Crack tonight. Our players getting consistently sucked in, rather then holding position, allowing opposition to win the contested ball and easy overlap possession.

It’s amateur stuff. The kind of stuff you see VAFA defenders do. It’s why we are so easy to score against. Our back 6 look completely disorganised. Blakey has coached premiership backlines, so I’m not really sure wtf is happening and why… Are they being instructed to swarm the ball carrier?

Our system is broken.

Was that the bit of play where Corr was running around in no man’s land?

Our blokes lose their way too easily.

One of the few blokes that doesn’t seem to get sucked in is Jason.

Is it our system or is it the players. At some point you have just have learn and do better. Our biggest weakness is the senior core players. As after quater time they were better, the coaches reminded them of what was expected. So its not instruction

Given that the defending improved after quarter time, im going 110% its the players not playing the system from the start of the game. Which is ****ing terrible.

And i know its only a "sack nobes thread lite" but the suggestion in the other thread that clarkson would make any difference, when they dont even play the system they're told to, is fantasy.

Maybe the players aren’t listening to Noble and they would for someone like Clarko? They aren’t listening or playing for Noble.Like Kingy said he doesn’t know what we stand for. Is it contested possession, are we a running through the corridor team or are we trying to set up and start with defence? No one knows and I agree with Kingy that if we don’t see what our system is in the next few months, I have serious concerns for Noble as coach, especially when you have some like Clarko waiting for another opportunity.

If that's the case why would they adjust at quarter time?

The clip that King used to highlight Corr is very harsh on Corr because it came at the end of a team-wide breakdown.

There were double figure things in that entire passage of play - starting from when the Bulldogs got possession in their defensive 50 - and Corr was just a symbol at the end of it. The most important thing I learned from Brad Scott (stop laughing) in these types of clips is what looks like the most glaring mistake at the end of a passage is often because of a bunch of mistakes further up the field.

It was going to be one of the clips I put in the piece but there were just enough things happening off screen that I couldn't explain 100% of it, so it got binned.

Very good post. Like you say the end result is not always an accurate take on the out come.

The end result is because there are too many players caught too close to the footy.

The rest is a domino effect.

That’s rubbish. We are ranked last for defensive transition and last for inside 50 efficiency. If you don’t blame coaches for that then the reality is you’ll never blame coaches for anything. Our defensive set-up when we lose the ball is absolutely horrible.

Did they adjust? We still got smashed in the second half. Seems like you’re
making excuses and ignoring the reality.

Its embarassing how much better Hawthorn are than us. A club we should be on par with (at worst).

Get it out of the bin.

I feel like there isn’t enough talk from Walker, BMac and so on

Like idk I don’t really see them talk only when they have to regroup. The last time I checked we can’t mind read so they really have to step up even if it’s “run hall run”
