The vultures have already started re the 2-3 year top 4 comments.

Hope they are clearer about it in the presser as I have no doubt it will be asked.
While I absolutely agree with Ben's sentiment, I reckon he could have phrased that a lot better. It reads like an axe hanging over Noble's head on the day we're unveiling him as coach. I'm all for lofty goals, but "he's got 2-3 years" isn't a great message to start off with imo.

Lets be real, there is NO CHANCE Noble signed up to KPI's that secure top 4 in 3 years time

There isn't much room for mistakes with that timeline...

2021 - 18th - 16th
2022 - 14th - 10th
2023 - 10th - 8th
2024 - Pushing top 4

Our rebuild has been disjointed as we have this outlier year where we dipped in 2017. So did the rebuild kinda start tehn and then got way laid in mediocre for 2 years before returning to shiteful this season.

In 2023 LDU should be somewhere around 100ish games.

Meaning that Jy would be a senior player.

and we'd have a bunch of kids that we were weathering the storm with this year about to hit football maturity. I think the plan would be finals in 2023.

run something like

21 - consolidation and setting Noble's foundation. Game Plan, kids in big roles. There will be a list cut similar to this year at the end of the season.
22 - changing of the guard. We will have some ripping wins but inconsistency will see us perhaps not capitalise on what we should.
23 - finals or bust

They absolutely did everything for the long term in those first two years. Selections, game style, etc were all about where they were heading to over two to three years not minimising losses or getting on or two extra wins.

I would rather see us play a great game style with exciting young players that don't have the physical maturity yet to play out 4 quarters than go back to the way we played at times this year.

This is right on the money. Everything our club did when Fagan and Noble got the club was done with the view of years 3/4 onwards. I remember like many Lions supporters sitting at the MCG in 2018 and we kicked 2 goals for the whole day against Richmond. But the one thing I took away from that day was every time we got the ball we tried to move it through the corridor and we didn't flood back and try to minimise the blow out.

Noble will have a plan and knows what it takes. At worst he will galvanise the club and put strong structures in place that should set you on the right direction in years to come.

Is the presser at 10:30am?

Fox Sports news has womens basketball on.

Can we stream it off the website?

Agreed - 2023 is finals, not top 4 though..

Doesn't appear so

Seriously.

No excuses for this with modern technology.

It should be going out live on their facebook page, twitter feed at the very least.

BB: We are delighted and excited to have someone of David's experience and ability. We were extremely impressed during the interview process with David's knowledge of the game and his ability to articulate the culture he wants to create at North Melbourne.

Are they doing this over zoom or something?

It sounds like it.

Tell them that restrictions have eased and it's possible to actually do this in person now.....

He may still be in QLD or in hotel quarantine?

DN: I'm delighted to be the 38th coach of the North Melbourne Football Club. I would like to thank my family who have been an enormous support for me. I would also like to thank every organisation that I have worked at to get to this opportunity.

DN: I believe the North Melbourne Football Club's authenticity and value set will fit me perfectly.

DN: To our fans, members and sponsors. I'm bloody excited. I can't wait to play in front of you, and for you to be excited to watch us play. There will be frustrations, but I believe there is great pride in watching people and players grow.

DN: I've already been in contact with a number of players over the weekend, and I've been very impressed with their energy and demeanour.

You don't have to quarantine in VIC when coming from another state.

He was in Melbourne on Thursday, unless he returned to QLD over the weekend and is in quarantine.
