Anyone else noticed how last year we went 1-1 with Lloyd then went 2-1-17 without him, then started this year 3-1 with him fit lost ANZAC day due to him carrying injuries and have lost the last two without him? Have we become to reliant on the greatest forward currently playing?

Take Lucas out and you will see exactly the same thing. It is worrying as we will probably see less and less of these players playing.

The exciting thing about Gumby is that he will play his early games with and learn from Lloyd and Lucas and when those two retire Gumby should be at his peak to take over as the number 1 forward.

Thats my plan anyway..

Exactly and he will learn from practising against Fletch and Mal. Is it any wonder how Hurn, Stiller, Riscitelli have developed in teams filled with quality midfielders?

its not the no lloyd not dons factor, we just have too little inside 50's and only have one good forward isnt enough to get us over the line when we have so little inside 50's. we need lloyd and lucas, possibly the two best set shot players in the comp to both player so that the opposition cant double team one..

lucas has been double teamed a hell of a lot over the past few weeks, now that lloyd is back i think lucas will kick a big back this week, 7 against the lions and lloyd will kick 3 or 4. will that be enough to stop the lions, depends if brown comes back into form or not.

The problem with Lloyd not playing isnt actually Lloyd's output. It's just that his presence gives structure to our forward line and also we aren't kicking to Lucas all the lime so he cant get triple teamed.
How will we beat the Lions?
I think we must start well & we must kick straight espcially early on which we obviously didn't do last week & it cost us big time!

We must get back to the pressure tackling that we did against Adelaide, Freo & the saints in our three wins so far this season

Obviously the guys who always kill us for the LIONS are Brown, Black & Power & Bradshaw if he is playing need to stopped

We have to move the ball alot quicker when the opposition kick a behind than we have been & our disposal & decision making new to improve - we need to use the ball better & kick the ball longer more often I believe

Thoughts?

I totally agree with the above point - Lloydy straightens us up & he always gets the best defender which obviously makes it easier for Scotty to fire up

I am more inclined to say no Leroy, no Bombers. We need him operating on one side of the forward line and Davey on the other side. That was when we looked our best.

I think it's because they rely on him to much..
Full-Forward and captain.

I agree,
they seem to crumble/not win many games without him :(

HOPEFULLY THIS WEEK IS A WINNER!!
:D
