Happy New Year to all the BF Purple Army.

I'll be imbibing on some tasty, well-aged bourbon and snacking some tasty treats tonight. My new year's resolution is to learn how to fly fish this year, and my prediction is that Freo earn a top 4 finals berth!

Any chance Cooper Connolly to replace Mitch Marsh in the test side for Sydney? Handy second spinner and in top form with the bat, and a great fielder.
Connelly hardly bowls at first class level. In fact he has 0 wickets. At this point he projecting as a bat only in long formats.
If Hardy has been bowling fit now, and scoring runs before the bbl break, they might have brought him in. I think they don't really rate Webster (and to be honest I don't think he would be successful either given he is a batting all rounder that bats 6 at shield level. I think he's only made the squad because his numbers demand it) so they won't play him. They'll give Marsh one more chance. He'll hopefully play with freedom since his career is over without runs. Nothing to lose.

One major problem. He's not from NSW.

Can people shut the **** up about this?! Konstas was the first NSW player to debut in over six years.

The last player from NSW to debut before him was dumped off shield form despite averaging 100+ in test cricket. The right decision btw but if NSW bias wasn’t a complete myth that doesn’t happen.

NSW have only had 7 of the 39* debutantes since 2012/13 (up to and excluding Konstas). Of them Bird was playing for Tasmania at the time and only 1 (Hazelwood) became an established player.

The head coach is Victorian and the chairmen of selectors is Tasmanian. The other member of the selection panel is Victorian.

Pat will probably use his solar powered mind control skills to overrule them and parachute Jack Edwards in or something.

*Reminder for those playing at home, NSW have just under 1/3 of the population of the country.

Delighted to discover I was wrong about this.

Not to mention our long term NSW players recently have been Warner, Smith, Khawaja, Lyon, Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins. Add Zampa if you want to look at limited overs cricket as well.

Without this ‘NSW bias’ we’d be the worst test playing nation or at least quite close.

Partly wrong imo. I’m still not sure they really rate Webster and expect we’ll probably see a Cam Green recall as soon he’s available.
Oh yeah goes without saying. He should come out swingin' he has nothing to lose. His technique won't survive examination very long I suspect but geez the bloke has all the shots and is uncontainable when the ball is a bit old.

Semantics I suppose but Cam Green was our best bat now he's at his best spot of 4 and a top 10 seamer in the country. He walks in as soon as fit regardless of what Webster does tbh

I can't believe the dummy spitting going on from India atm. It's like a billion people went blind all at the same time and can't see a simple deflection.

It's worse than the ashes stumping and that's still getting talked about.

Can you link me to the dummy spitting, I want to laugh. It was actually refreshingly intelligent 3rd umpire decision making

You need only look at the discussion about match review events in the AFL, seeing supporters adamant that the event clearly happening on the screen, on video, did not in fact happen - such as the biting of Nic Suban by Chris Masten.

West Coast fans boo anything and everything. The booed Brayshaw for having his jaw broken.

The sooking from a part of the Indian support base is pretty bad.
The sooking from some of the players & team reps guides it all.
Its actually holding them back, instead of taking ownership of some poor cricket they are fixated on how unfair the world is.
If they spent less time moaning & intimidating their own younger team mates they would wipe the floor with us.

England are no better. Winge, winge, moan, moan. Morale victorys but you ain't got the ashes.
Even bazball. wtf.. it doesn't work. Admit you made a mistake, stop doubling down & learn from your mistakes..
It's comical.

Also the sandpaper thing.
It's not great but you cant say the 3 involved didn't get their punishment.
If it was the BCCI they would have demanded their players be available.
Australia cricket board went harder than the ICC wanted.
It was a bit unfair imo, when you see all the other ball tampering & game fixing going on, especially in India.

Sook it up India. You channeling your energy in the wrong direction.
Ditto Pommys.

It doesn't help that VK has absolutely stunk this tour.
