Lipinski was hard done by, a regretful loss. So many turnovers resulted from Young's disposals out of defence. Had he been tried as a deep tall forward and given the opportunities given to a certain deep tall forward with a double-barreled surname, then we might have won last year's premiership.
You are obsessed. Never a missed opportunity to pot the lad. It is clearly personal for some bizarre reason.

I feel bad for sending Lachie Young to norf

Lipinski got plenty of opportunities to nail down a flank/wing spot in our team and showed he wasn't quite up to it. He is a nice kick but is poor defensively and slow, and we prioritise good defensive role players in those positions to cover Smith and Treloar who also aren't great defensively (i.e. Roarke Smith, Scott, JJ). He also wasn't going to get a gig as a pure mid for us as he is nowhere near the quality of Bont/Macrae/Libba/Treloar/Dunkley/Smith.

Young is and always has been incredibly poor 1 on 1. He's a good interceptor but was probably the worst kick on our list which limits his value. If you've got significant weaknesses and not training hard then your prospects are limited. He'll play under 50 games for Carlton.
If you watched Collingwood games lately you would realise he is playing majority high half forward these days and still having more possessions than Scott, McComb and McNeil combined and has more defensive efforts and plays in a better team. He is the hardest runner in the team and does more kms than Bevo’s boys. he is probably in their top 5 in their B&F.

the biggest issue at dogs was he played in a talented team with a crap coach who has no real game plan

Yeah that 2016 clearly had nothing to do with the coach. This is another of your bad takes.

Has underachieved since with the best list in the past 50 years. He cannot even finish in the top 4 In 8 years of coaching. Why is this so?

lets be honest, he got lucky, motivationally he was brilliant and Montgomery actually had a lot more involvement on the game plan back then than assistants have since. Some supporters are happy with 1 flag every 50 years. I don’t. Successful clubs are ruthless and don’t put up with underachievement.

I'm sick of this fluking a flag narrative.

You cannot fluke a flag and you cannot achieve over your ability.

Both ridiculously stupid things to say

you can get lucky, a 50 metre not being paid against JJ in the prelim or an umpire making an incorrect goal decision in 97 or no free kick to a diving and staging Reiwlodt in 2009. Some could argue which I do not agree as we were the better side regardless but how many more frees did we have in the GF.

luck or good fortune always can make a difference. A ball bounce away from Milne in the GF against Pies was bad luck and cost them a game.

i am having a good laugh at you ignorant posts😂

Free kick numbers... the tell tale sign of someone who has absolutely no idea what he is talking about

It’s reasonably well understood that most competitive outcomes (sport and non-sport, good and bad) are a function of (1) competence (includes effort/application) and (2) luck. This sits behind sayings like “things are never quite as good or bad as they seem”.

I agree you cannot “fluke” a flag, meaning luck is the entire or majority reason for success, but you definitely can over achieve your ability, either through over/under application or good/bad luck.

The thing that always seems to be missed in the analysis of our 2016 flag is how ridiculously evenly balanced the top 7 sides were versus other years. We were 2 wins off 1st but 3 wins clear of 8th. In an alternate world where our heavily injured side didn’t lose the last round we would have still be 7th but only 1 win off 1st and 4 wins clear of 8th.

Robert Walls and John Worsfold say hi. Both were dreadful coaches who arsed a flag each.
Ross Lyon was such a bad coach he cost St Kilda at least two flags.
Beverage is in this class of coaches.

He grabbed the cash and as a fringe player can't blame him for that
Hard to feel sorry for any Norf player. Collectively, they get paid the same as a Doggies, Melbourne, Brisbane, Freo and every other list. But they do and achieve less than FA. It's fraud really.

I think we want Melbourne to win today, don't we, but by a point with clear divisions, dissent and onfield spats between premiership and non premiership team mates captured on video for the media to scutinise this week...all week and into next.

Think I'd prefer an all-in, involving Melbourne players only, at half time...

It’s a bit of a win/ win. Melbourne lose and we get to see them under pressure. Pies lose and it’s better for our slim top 8 chances.
