The most ridiculous thing I am hearing, and reading on BF, from Port supporters, is something to the effect of:

'We shouldn't even be comparing ourselves to the Crows, they are a wooden spoon quality side! There is something wrong if we get beaten by them. It must be Ken/Koch/Injuries/[insert other excuse]' etc etc

But NONE of them seem to be able to make the small logical leap of, 'Wait, if they are a bottom side, and they are able to beat us, that makes us an even shittier side!'

Nope, they only see their list a premiership worthy, and simply cannot fathom how such a list could be beaten by us.

Quite hilarious really.

Port are of the most softest teams in the league who are mentally fragile on the big stage.

I want it to be a slow bleed:

  • we smack them in R23 and they miss the finals on percentage
  • Boak retires
  • Gray retires
  • Dixon retires
  • Georgiades asks for a trade to WA
  • Motlop announces he’s going on
  • Powell-Pepper plays up on End of Season trip
  • Montgomery and Bassett quit, citing they can no longer work for Ken
  • Koch backs Ken unreservedly
  • Their reserves take out the SANFL wooden spoon

I think Port will beat Melbourne like we did last year, Melbourne are so comfortable at the moment they are in flick switch mode where they think anytime they get in trouble they can just go up a gear. They are due a bad game.
The Dees took the gas of the pedal vs the Suns a few weeks back.

They kept the Suns definitely in the game without putting them away.

It really depends if Ken has lost the players. When this happens then its game over before the bounce.

If you look at Port last 6 games, from the Prelim Final last year, they have only beaten us in our trial game when you could tell the Crows were not taking it seriously. They were smashed by the Dogs, smashed by the Suns, beat us in the trial, then got rolled in R1,2 and 3. Its not great signs.

So I found out today, that a guy called Ken Farmer kicked 1417 goals in the SANFL in the 1930s. I heard of him obviously, but never realized he was that good.

Very shameful that this is not recognized or acknowledged in any capacity whatsover by the AFL.

Had you heard of the Ken farmer medal (Colman medal equivalent)

The undisputed GOAT. There's a reason the SANFL leading goalkicker award is named after him.

But he played in SA so you won't hear a word spoken about him.

Here were his goal tallies.
  • 1929 – 62
  • 1930 – 105
  • 1931 – 126
  • 1932 – 102
  • 1933 – 112
  • 1934 – 106
  • 1935 – 128
  • 1936 – 134
  • 1937 – 108
  • 1938 – 112
  • 1939 – 113
  • 1940 – 123
  • 1941 – 86
Average of 6.33 goals per game. He once kicked 23 in a game!

Hall of Fame
Like I said, I heard of him and knew a bit about him in terms of achievements etc.

I just didnt know he kicked 1400+ goals and more than Buddy ever will, outside of SA no one would really even know who he is, thats the real shame.

Who wants to post this on the Port board?

“The boys believe and we believe in each other”..

what the **** does that even mean?.. is that the direct quote?.. because its a very strange way of putting it.. that sounds to me as hinkley himself isnt actually sure he has got the confidence of the playing group..

if he did he wouldve said “the boys believe IN ME and we believe in each other..”

he’s completely cooked if he doesnt even know (with enough confidence to actually say so anyway) if he still has the full support of the playing group..

and it would be just like a fair few of those downhill skiing flogs that play for the powa to actually allow hinkley to take all the blame for the failures and hope for them to come out looking like some poor hard done by victim's of it all…

I'm a North fan and very familiar with his name. A pity he's not even recognised over the border.

Beat me to it. There's a great write up of him on the NAFC page. Looks like you got your info from there.

Gosh its been a while since we have heard him around here. Is still alive and posting?
Would be currently in a mental health facility after Crows sent them to 0-3 after the siren...

More than 100 goals each year for more than a decade.

Unbelievable.

Jeez Port supporters are a special bunch

On their board: “When I was a kid growing up at Alberton there always seemed to be an Us and Them mentality, where Us was Port and Them was whoever we were playing that week..”

Really?? Wow! You mean, like every other supporter of every other club?? You mean like every team in every sport ever - it’s us and them??

Fmd 😄😄
