Its interesting the reasons how some arrived here.

Some resurrected themselves from the dead.:drunk:

I would be very interested in those that have been here since before 2010s and how they came about this forum.

Was working with my uncle and we loved talking shit about footy. One day he discovered BF and told me about it, and that was it.

I've been mainly a lurker for the last 17 years, with the odd contribution.

BF used to be the place to come for AFL rumours and pre-season info etc., before the AFL Media became a shitshow.

surprised that Gallagher isn’t under the gun at St Kilda

As list manager he’s built one of the most bland and pointless lists in the comp

I think he will be next.

A bit like Reid though, it's hard to judge list managers. He could of been following directions or even been telling them for years that the list isn't right and been overuled.

Anyway I think he will probably move on now. Fairly sure he is moving back to Adelaide and was maybe going to do the job remotely.

For what it's worth I don't think we'll be bottom 4 next year, a few poor teams next year it seems I definitely think we'll be in the 9-13 bracket

If we get Port, Sydney, North, Gold Coast, Essendon as the double ups it'd be a good result for us.

Is Ratten unlucky as a coach or what? Sacked by the Blues after one year out of 4 missing finals. They've been hopeless since, only exceeding the result that got him sacked twice in 10 years.

Now had St Kilda going alright before falling apart late in the year. Sure they've missed finals the last 2 years but they haven't been way off. Either way, leaves both teams sacked with a W/L ratio of above 50%.

Is Ratten even the problem at St Kilda? It looks more like their issue is list management/recruitment. Loading up on mature agers that aren't going to get you a flag has predictably shit results.

North Fans set up a Port death riding thread on their board.

We openly welcome them to post on here after every Port loss.:thumbsu:
I'd be keen to have a Carlton death riding thread on our board next season. Not because we've got one of their future picks or anything, I just don't like them

Speechless

We complain about our club but they're getting on for 150 years of outright rabbleness

Ratten isn't even a a bad coach, it's not his fault their list is totally shit, are they really going to bring in a new coach just to rebuild? It seems silly, surely Ratten was a good coach to take them through a rebuild, they're gonna get some noob who's never coach before to be thrown under the bus

A lot of Saints fans seem pretty happy with the decision. They say he's a nice guy but has a shit, outdated gameplan which isn't getting them anywhere (sound familiar?) There may be some truth to that, but one look at their list profile suggests that they're possibly the club that is furthest away from the flag. Their only current A-graders are Steele and Sinclair. They're not in contention but they're not rebuilding yet either, and it's brimmed with B/C graders who aren't going to be there or take them to a flag. They've splashed cash at overpaid B-grade mercenaries such as Hill and Crouch, and a cooked Hannebery. As for their youth, aside from King who will be A-grade if he can fix his kicking, who else has elite potential?

I thought at the time Ratten was lucky to get an extension as I just don't rate him as a coach but hard to believe this has happened months later.

The Coaching pool is getting fairly thin.

Interesting all of Dew, Nicks, Hinkley and Simpson should be worried. A poor year from any of those four and they will be gone I think.

The Melbourne media is going to start bringing up the camp again soon as all the news coming from Victoria is not good and the need another smoke screen.

Add Beveredge and to that. Fagan too, if he survives the inquest.

I just watched part of the unedifying press conference with that charlatan Lethlean(one of Gil's closest mates, reportedly) & a very unimpressive president. He claimed they have lots of issues to fix that aren't in anyway Ratten's fault & if they don't fix them the incoming coach will fail. If I was in the press pack I would be asking the obvious bloody question - why wouldn't you fix all those issues whilst letting the coach you re-signed for 2 years only in July get on with his job. Some of the people who get into positions of power in AFL clubs quite frankly aren't very smart.

Why re-sing him while doing a review that can compromise or in this case does compromises that decision

2006 for me. Something must have happened around then for me to be looking for news I reckon. Feb 2006.

Not Kenny, he'll have a good year next year, maybe even make a prelim, get a 3 year extension and sit pretty

He was re signed before the review started.
It was in the pipeline and the senior coach was always going to part of the review. No forward thinking from the club leaders.

So if there's alot of issues that aren't related to Ratten, why sack Ratten?
