Seems there’s a few of us, who were there and will never watch it. TBH the trauma has caused my mind to not remember details of the game at all.
I was there. I’ve never watched it. But I’m not traumatised. I was there for 97 and 98 too, and the girls first. Can’t win them all. 🤷‍♀️

Lyon lucky to get a third go without ever winning a premiership in my opinion. I think St Kilda will improve slightly under him and maybe play finals but not much more than that in his time.

I'm another that was there, but have never watched it again

It's weird because I saw it once on one of the Grand Final marathons on Fox Footy and I watched it for a couple of minutes and it actually felt weird seeing it because I have never watched any of it before.

With the list the Saints have I'd much rather have Ross Lyon than Brett Ratten, not that I'm a huge Lyon fan by any means

Interesting Ross told the saints a while back he’d never start talking to them while they had a coach (learnt from the Freo experience).

Could you imagine the melts here if we recycled one of our old coaches?

The difference is that Lyon can actually coach and a lot of their supporters were disappointed when he left. The only reason he ever left the Saints originally was because Freo offered him a godfather deal.

He has guided two teams that historically have under performed into being super competitive sides and got them both into Grand Finals.

I would argue too that the Saints were one bad ball bounce away from a flag in 2010, if that ball sat for Milne in the final minute then Ross Lyon would be a premiership coach.

He's not a popular coach due to his style, but I've always rated him and think that he's a great coach.

Yeah it's an interesting one.

I don't mind Lyon and he's proven that he can get teams finals ready.

Going to be an interesting 2023 for the Saints mind you. Are they expecting another crack at finals or will they accept him missing finals getting things right.

Fremantle had a pretty average list when he was there too. Astonishing he could get that list into a grand final

Does Lyon's defensive game plan work in todays game though? He peaked early at Freo and they spent the next few years looking pretty awful.

Lyon will no doubt be able to adapt his gameplan to be relevant today.

I think he's the type of coach that you only bring in for a limited period when you have a list that's about to open a premiership window. Like we saw at Freo once he no longer has a squad in the premiership window he tends to struggle when it comes to developing a list.
