To be expected.
The belief from Port supporters that they were going to receive a first round pick for Amon was sheer delusion.
It's not easy to get a first round compensation pick for a player unless they're receiveda massive offer. That's why Geelong getting one for Motlop for the price that the Port claimed they were paying him never quite added up, unless you factor in Port's history of feeding bullshit to the media by under quoting contract figures and then it begins to make sense.

I reckon if they got a first rounder they would have taken that to the draft. If they get a 2nd rounder that night be almost pick 30, then they might have to use it on Rioli.

Not sure why Port didn't work with Hawthorn to do a 'Daniher' by maybe taking a salary dump player and have Hawthorn offer a shorter term contract at a higher level and then a week after the deal is done, wander down to AFL house to add extra years at a lower rate to the deal. I mean Essendon have reaped the benefits of it so why shouldn't everyone else
