TBH
They did that at Fed Square a few weeks back when the flares caused some fans to have to go to hospital for burns.
This has sent it back 15-25 years even further back.
Melbourne is the arseh*le of Australia.

This should be the final straw for the Victory active supporters.

At a minimum, every member of their active group is banned from matches for 5 years.

Melbourne Victory need to be deducted points for this. No suspended sentence this time.
Is the "Active Group" like a cheer squad ....can you explain this a bit more for us nuffies

It's always the Victory fans. WSW fans have done some shit things too, but the MV fans always take it too far. They were the ones throwing GLASS bottles at the MC goalkeeper in the W-League, and they got a slap on the wrist. They were the ones who subjected Cavallo to homophobic abuse, and they got a slap on the wrist. Now this. Points deduction is the absolute minimum the Victory need to suffer.

It's been quite a few years now since i've been to any A-League games, but 100% the sketchiest sporting events that made me keep one eye in the crowd as well as the pitch were routinely Victory v Adel Utd matches in Melbourne while wearing red -

Soccer fans melting in comments

So long as he was as keen to comment on the AFLs most prominent fan getting done for paedophilia, Western Bulldogs covering up sexual abuse of minors, Hawthorn and Collingwood racism, Carlton links to organised crime and murder, Port players and parklands rape allegations, Port player dying on a drug induced incident on end of season trip, West Coast player dying then being revived from a drug overdose,…

Or NRL players links to organised crime, multiple on multiple domestic violence issues and drug wraps, gambling corruption, etc etc etc

But yeah sure let’s hear from the high horse of AFL & NRL media

Pretty much. The A-League has regulated them a fair bit in recent years due to issues in these areas, especially from Victory and Wanderers fans, such as making it only Active/cheer squad members only allowed to sit in the designated active support area.

Why does he have to have written about all those things?

No fans at Melb Victory games for the next 5 years. Problem solved.

AFL under threat from Soccer ....never !!

Spectators invading the playing surface ....attacking the goal keeper .....match called off

The game of Soccer will never escape its culture of hooliganism

100%.

Aussie rules might have incidents now and then but soccer has far too many incidents.

Jesus, you have had to go back over 25 years to find this. And pretty sure no players or umpires were in danger.

Can you just imagine what would have happened last night if the lights had gone out?

Got anything more recent?

It was also a unique set of circumstances with the blackout and what not.

I just get a little bemused when sports officials talk of life bans from stadiums .....it sounds impressive, but do we really think the low paid stadium workers, actually police these bans ?

I for one, believe banned people, still rockup to their favourite sports every week ....with on-line ticketing, and scanners at gates, who polices these bans

The behaviour of modern humans in large groups during heightened moments is getting worse. A collective IQ of 50 in that group of idiots.

George Carlin would be having a field day in today's world.
RIP George Carlin, Bill Hicks.

There's too many extremist groups that have infiltrated supporter groups in Vic. They see soccer as a vehicle to inciting unrest. Unless FFA grow some nuts and start controlling their crowds, all the goodwill they've built up at junior level will be eroded.
