Exactly.... though the issue for Lions is that this inefficiency in front of goals is a little too regular.

Makes us appreciate the reliability of Tex & Fog. Thilthorpe usually reliable in front of goals too.
TT reliable? I think he sucks as set shots. Seemed to start his career well, but had gotten progressively worse and the mental side of it is getting to him.

18 goals & 9 points last season is a decent conversion rate.

Hardly a sucks rate like most on show last night.

I'd hazard a guess at least from a starting 22 perspective they'll move Darcy Wilmot back to HB from the wing and start Zac Bailey or Jarrod Berry in for Wilmot.

Wilmot's young and only played 30 games, so he may not immediately replace Coleman in terms of output, but he's got plenty of potential that I think he can develop into an adequate full-in in the short term.
Fletcher?

If a cooked Sloane can come back from an ACL, then I reckon Coleman will be fine.

Missed a handful of very gettable set shots late in the season last year and also a few this year in the preseason games but overall has a good set shot technique.

Both sides have key forwards who can be prone to having those 1.3 or 2.4 type games.

Curnow and McKay kicked a combined 7.1
Daniher and Hipwood kicked a combined 2.4 (not helped by 2.3 each from Cameron and McCarthy)

If you're breaking it down to just raw numbers it's 62-49 Brisbane's way on I50's and 25 shots on goal to 20. Short term the Lions are just gonna chalk that one up in inefficiency and not panic too much.

Seriously if your life depended on it, could you rely on Hipwood and Daniher to kick the goal? Gut feel is a big no.

That's going to sting!

Lions issue was they were kicking mainly points after then, whilst Blues were mainly kicking goals. So many of their forwards wasted easy scoring opportunities that proved to be the difference.
Part of the crash was due to the FIGJAM attitude. Look at me aren't I terrific. All the Hollywood plays in the first qtr were locked down by Carlton in the last 5-10 minutes of that qtr but lions kept on keeping on expecting the magic to continue. There were multiple individual wanna-be-hero acts throughout, like Joe ignoring a player clear deep forward and having a long ping at goal (not sure if he goaled - can't remember) but that sort of mindset didn't work when there was real work to be done. All flourish and no substance. It appeared to me they simply expected it to continue and their intensity dropped with fatigue creeping in. They got their second wind and got down to business when shit got real, late in the third qtr.
