Much as I hate to say it, with a full list, Chesser, Ginbey & who ever else they picked last year to debut they should go alright the Slime.

To be expected I suppose, we have similar feelings on Johnson and you put that added bit of hope on kids when you're rebuilding so for them, Chesser is something to get very excited about

particularly seeing chesser is effectively the player they’re starting with, sort of like the Weller/blakely cohort with us

I disagree. They have gone past the critical mass required for a team that can go alright. They now have too many oldies who have lost too much speed plus their game plan is extremely dated. Even if things go right for them, they don't have the skills or composure for fast ball movement and defences will eat them alive or the bottom 10 players will bring their forward thrusts undone. Once the rot starts, confidence will be shot from the youngsters, oldies will go into pay check mode and they basically have no one in the middle group who is good enough to build a team around.

They need a new core of a team and the draft is the only answer. It's going to take years.

The Weags should be aiming to be competitive in games but still finish in the bottom few spots. Develop the kids rather than chase wins

It's looking like an awesome draft and they are still in rebuild. Trading down may again be a huge opportunity for them with the f/s picks.

Also there are several ex WA players who they could lure home, and using the PSD in negotiations will help that along.
