Worth remembering that in 2017 we thought it was a restump / replumb and with how trades work, basically knew we were getting Hogan and Lobb next year. Cerra and Brayshaw would have made sense in their heads back then.

So basically, blame Hogan again
The mistake was thinking it was restump / replumb. I understand Ross saying that to build hope but one look at the list at the end of 2015 showed it didn’t have much more left in it.

At the end of 2016 we should have embraced our new reality and gone hard at the draft. I liked Logue but he was not the cornerstone of a rebuild the way Hill and Pav / Hase were last time we finished in the bottom four.

Didn't he get three votes round one last year?

And I remember a kick from him in the pocket on the run for goal against Melbourne in I think 2020 that won us that game.
Your memory is obviously better than mine . I do find him generally a very vanilla type player 90% of the time though

There’s nothing more that grinds my gears than this s**t. The most treacherous AFL campaigner is the guy at the top, an ex FREO BOARD MEMBER. He has had first hand experience from a club perspective on how lob sided every thing about this competition is, and what’s he done? Sweet * all.

Perhaps its less about the AFL and more about Channel 7/Fox Footy.

Channel 7 and Foxtel pay billions of dollars for the TV rights. They want prime time games that rate!

That is why the likes of Carlton and Collingwood get prime time and we don't.

Its not a conspiracy is about money.

The opportunity cost of us or Gold Coast or GWS, etc playing in prime time must be fricken huge for the TV broadcasters in terms of lost ratings (and so, down the track, lost ad revenue).

If we want to play prime time, then be a club with lots of rusted on supporters who will turn on the telly even when we are dogshit. So we don't get the good time slots.

That is why the worst thing this club ever did was meekly accept the poor start to 2016 and then do a half-arsed re-build.

We had just started to get some relevance and momentum.

What we need to do more than anything else was to continue to build on that year after year after year by playing finals.

Even if we had to build/coach teams capable of playing finals but not winning a flag, we simply had to go down that route for the long term benefits of growing national interest and a supporter base.

Even if this re-build is brings on-field success in a flag, off-field we set ourselves back decades by giving up on being a perennial finals team.

Warner brothers also go alright.
2 more to come as well.
Do we target the next one, Ashton?
Eventually reunite them all at Freo?
I know they aren't wc fans.
the family was Geelong before Chad was drafted
