This celebration of Carlton is making me want to vomit, as if they haven’t thrown their season in the bin already.
They’ll beat us btw, said it even when we were ‘good’ and they weren’t.
They always lift against us, wouldn't be surprised if they do it again

I keep hearing in regards to the dangerous tackles that the player with the ball should let it go and take the free-kick against them so they can protect themselves. It has to be one of the dumbest takes and yet it keeps getting spewed by dumb campaigners in the media. Why should the player being tackled be the one that has to do the protecting when the players all know the one tackling can't sling them to the ground? Why should the entire onus not be on the player tackling when they are all aware of the rule? The only time the player being tackled should take some blame is when they flop in the tackle to get the free which is happening more and more.

If they made HTB the same as it was when I was a kid all the problems would go away.

If you take possession of the ball you must dispose of it legally when tackled.

No prior
No dropping it even if it’s accidental
No going to ground & keeping possession.
That’s it. Problem solved.
It's really so simple isn't it.

Speed the game up a mile and reduce stoppages too.

Personally, I don't like that. It is like when people say to reward the tackler even if the bloke being tackled had no prior. It makes no sense.

I agree that they can call HTB a lot quicker and change the interpretation to bring back dropping the ball, but just being tackled should never be holding the ball. Bring that in and at stoppages nobody is going to try and pick the ball up.

That creates the incentive to stalk your opponent and let them get hands on it first ready to strip an arm in a near instant tackle, dropping the ball, free kick, easy clearance.

On re read I missed the no prior.

I think prior opportunity should remain but it should be reigned in a hell of a lot. It takes there abouts half a second to dispose of the ball - that's how long prior should be.

Agree on the dropping the ball though.

Yeah bit like Bowers when they were paying htb for just about anything in early aflw season's.

Something I noticed today, I wouldn’t mind knowing who gave Butters coaches votes this week. One of the coaches gave him 3rd best on honours (the other gave him no votes) which feels extremely dodgy if it was Hinkley.
It's Hinkley 100 percent. Was thinking the same thing last year with Rozee. Rozee ended up 5th in the coaches votes ahead of Cripps, Jeremy Cameron and Andy Brayshaw which is just bullshit.

Not that it's going to happen and I'm not going to do it but a reporter could do a bit of a deep dive into which teams coaches votes historically are always the most different to the other team. There's simply no way Butters was 3rd best in that game.

Back in the day you would see a whole lot more taps, knock ons and soccers because players knew they couldn't just take possession in a highly contested situation.

Ball movement was a lot faster.

Jaiden Hunter potentially out for the season after a back injury discovered. Wasn't it between him and Stanley that we were deciding on?

Further to this, back when I was a kid they used the protect the ball carrier and/or reward the player who got to the ball first.

Now they punish you for 'dragging it in' encouraging players to hold back preferring to wrap up the poor sold who actually won the ball.

And don't get me started on players lying all over the backs of their opponents.... Or forwards subtly 'nudging out' their opponent by a fair dinkum 2 handed push in the back... or.... #oldmanyellsatcloud

There was one where I think either Hannebery or Parker was catching up to Fyfe who hadn't played for most of the second half of the year and when the last few rounds came along Longmire was very generous to him awarding votes

when Robbie Gray won in the last round Hinkley deliberately gave him full votes to ensure he won the award

If braining your own team's most important player isn't a vintage Gary Rohan move, I don't know what is,.

Gary Rohan might have inadvertently helped us
