One thing that is guaranteed is they will treat our games as their grand final...

I hope Switta spends plenty of time in the stoppages over the season before then because our midfield not having a burst speed player is why Carlton play a physical game against us in there.

That is why I was really bullish on Callaghan. I know the club was really keen on him but the Giants wouldn't budge. He would have been the perfect pair with Johno and Amiss.

Its weird, I still look at Cerra and think negative thoughts about him choosing to leave even though I think we actually profited from the deal in the end by getting Amiss.

I look at Motlop and I hate the AFL, Bulldogs get JUH for nothing and all the other expansion academy free hits but when we finally had one they had to change the rules.

Acres . . . just nothing. I never felt much attachment to him as a Freo player although I can say he played some good footy. Lobb is the same, don't really care that he left.

I still get upset when I see Langdon and even Brad Hill but those guys above, couldn't care less.

I enjoyed the game, tough and hard, players understandably rusty. Would have been champagne comedy if the Blues lost as they are clearly the team the AFL and Vic media most want to win the flag this year but a draw was probably fair in the end.

gee, some of the skill executions were scrubby af! But it was high-intensity, tackle-ferocious I guess, lacking in some quality. Neither team looked like a dangerous side, Richmond blocked the exits early doors but couldn't get bang for buck...Carltoon looked defensively suspect. Richmond were sloppy in their kicking and Carlton had a few good bursts through the midfield, but never did anything that made them look "juggernaut". Strange sort of opener.

Acres dropping uncontested marks was funny. Cerra looks like he's going to become fairly vanilla this year if he doesn't improve beyond what he is, might have decent skills and can cover ground but lacks grunt...
Cerra ain't even the Diet Coke of Andy Brayshaws...he's more like the warm, caffeine Free Diet LA Cola version.

both players (Acres and Cerra) are providing a compelling case for why, ultimately, we won't miss them. That being said, I'll reserve further judgement until we play, hahaha!

I have the feeling that Cerra's hit his ceiling already.
I think he'll get better but he's never going to be a match winner. He'll get his 20-25 touches and mostly use it well but he's never going to be a Cripps, Brayshaw type, put the team on your back guy. He's neat and tidy and goes hard enough but he's just a bit polite. I'd take Serong or Young over 3 of him.

Riewoldt has been a very good player. Very, very good. But looks cooked. Over cooked.
Agree
I reckon he drags them down these days
Has moments of brilliance but just not sharp enough for 2 hours

Carlton & Richmond are equal on the ladder still after tonight, but are listed alphabetically.

So assuming there are no more draws, Richmond will finish round one in 9th place.

Nature is healing.

Loving that result, as I now don't have to read about the "odds on 2023 AFL Premiers" and instead, can read about how neither team won. Hahaha

I'm going for a mistake riddled draw so both sets of fans start microwaving. Extra bonus points if there is an Arc decision against Richmond late in the game.

I have nothing personal against Blake Acres and certainly don’t want to kick a lad when he’s just had a bad moment.
But the media hype about how we stuffed up by letting him go was very annoying to listen to. I have consistently said here for the last 3 years he’s a fringe player for us and is in our bottom 6. I thought he had a decent season relatively to his ability last year, but wasn’t too bothered when we let him go.
When we Traded him for a pick in the 40s I thought that was about right for a player of his ability. Carlton have a weaker bottom 6 than we do so his place should be more secure.
At the end of the day, if he was as good as everyone in the media in Melbourne has been saying, we would not have let him go so easily. It’s as simple as that.
